Although the first events at the new Lakepoint Restaurant and Event Center were successful, the restaurant side of the building isn't ready to open, POA General Manager Tom Judson told members of the Lakes Committee.
Opening the restaurant was postponed again, with the latest target date on June 2. The delay was blamed on the delivery of kitchen equipment.
Originally, the facility was to open as both an event center and a restaurant on the first weekend in May, but the opening was postponed until May 19 because some kitchen equipment had not arrived. And because of bad weather, some landscaping work was not completed.
On May 13, the first wedding took place at the facility, Judson said. The bride and her mother were happy with the event.
Reservations were accepted at the restaurant for the May 19 date, but those customers were contacted by phone, Judson said. Reservations for the June date will be accepted this week. Call 479-855-8110 for reservations.
