To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Linebarger Brothers opening the Bella Vista Summer Resort on June 20, 1917, Carole Linebarger Harter spoke at the Bella Vista Historical Museum on Sunday to a crowd of 40 people.

Harter, who is a granddaughter of one of the founding brothers, spoke about the paths that led her grandfather and his brothers took to Bella Vista, and their efforts from when they bought Lake Bella Vista in January 1917 to get a resort built and ready to open six months later.

The museum, located at the corner of U.S. Highway 71 and Kingsland Road, next door to the American Legion, welcomes visitors Wednesdays through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m., to see exhibits representing those 100-plus years. Admission is free.
