Museum open Thursday evenings; Harter discusses her grandfather

The Bella Vista Historical Museum will be open until 8 p.m. on Thursday evenings during June on a trial basis.

The museum's volunteer docents are willing to continue that practice if there are enough visitors to make it worthwhile. The museum is located at the corner of U.S. Highway 71 and Kingsland Road, next door to the American Legion. Free admission. Everyone is welcome to stop in on their way home from work or to come out in the cool of the evening to see the exhibits representing 100 years of Bella Vista history.

The public is also invited to hear Carole Linebarger Harter speak at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 18, about the efforts it took for her grandfather and his two brothers to get the resort up and running. The Linebarger Brothers opened the Summer Resort at Lake Bella Vista on June 20, 1917. For more information about the museum, see www.bellavistamuseum.org or visit the museum's Facebook page.
