Bella Vista Library Summer Reading Program kicks off June 8

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

The Bella Vista Library kicks off 2017 Summer Reading Program with a celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place.

The theme of this year's program is "Build a Better World," so the library will bring in big construction trucks to get the fun started. This kid-centric event will also have a bounce house, emergency vehicles to tour, free face painting, free snow cones provided by Brain Freeze Shaved Ice and more.

Pre-registration for this year's program is now open at the library's website -- www.bvpl.org/summer-reading-2017/ -- or participants can sign up during the kickoff party.

The program will run from June 8 to July 13. During that time, the library will offer events for all ages, from preschool aged children to adults. Events are planned for children at 2 p.m. on Thursdays, tweens and teens at 5:30 p.m. on Fridays and a Summer Speaker Series for adults at 6 p.m. on Mondays. Starting June 15, an adult summer reading book club will meet at 10 a.m. each Thursday at the library.

The program is a way to encourage everyone to take some time to read. Participants can log their reading and in turn be entered in drawings for prizes, which have been donated by many local businesses this year.

Exercise your mind this summer and keep in touch with your community. The weekly events are free, fun and educational for the whole family. Help us build a better world through reading! For questions or more information, drop by or call the library at 479-855-1753.
