NARFE

Bella Vista Chapter 1547 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will hold its next monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, in the Hometown Bank located at 21196 Highway 71 South, Pineville, Mo., just past Walmart. Its annual Christmas social with entertainment by a Barbershop Quartet will be held. Punch, soft drinks and tea, doughnuts and cookies will be provided. Members are welcome to bring along a favorite snack to share.

A brief business meeting will be held, with Wally Sheldon giving an update on legislation and also discuss with more clarity the Blue Cross Medicare Part B premium reimbursement. Members will be assisted with any changes they would like to make the last few days of open season. All current and retired federal employees and their spouses are welcome.

Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection

The Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 Lancashire Blvd. This month's feature is Christmas music with the Highlands Winds, along with an all-American brunch; cost is $10. Guest speaker, Sharita Bent, will speak to the topic of "Wake! Pray! Slay!"

Kingsdale Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will dance at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Kenton Sullivan will be calling. There will be a workshop at 6:30 p.m. before the dance.

Kiwanis Club

Weekly meetings are held at 7 a.m. every Thursday at Concordia Retirement Center. Breakfast is available. Visitors, Kiwanis members and former Kiwanis members are all invited to attend.

Sunrise Rotary Club

Altrusa International

Altrusa International of Bentonville and Bella Vista meets at 11:30 a.m. at River Grill in Bentonville on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Village Lake Writers and Poets Club

The Village Lake Writers and Poets Club group meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Artist Retreat Center, 13467 Lookout Drive, in Old Bella Vista. Guests are always welcome.

Bella Vista Decorative Artists

The Bella Vista Decorative Artists meet at 9 a.m. the second Saturday of each month for a business meeting and painting session at Wishing Spring Studio, 8862 W. McNelly Road (next to Walgreens). The purpose of the chapter is to stimulate interest and appreciation for the art of painting. BVDA does a variety of service projects. This year, the group is working with the Village House in Bella Vista, the Children's Shelter and providing memory boxes for local hospitals. Each month BVDA has a chapter member or a visiting national artist teach an art project in acrylics, oils, watercolor or mixed mediums. Painters of all skill levels make up the BVDA chapter.

Line Dance Club

A beginners class will meet from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning Jan. 3, 2018, at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Registration fee is $20. There is also a $30 annual fee, payable to Riordan Hall, and for those without a Bella Vista photo ID, there is a $2.50 per class fee to Riordan Hall. The class will be taught by Kristine Schaap, who has taught beginners for several years. New dancers will learn line dancing steps and dances that incorporate those steps. Dancers will also receive handouts, lots of practice and personal attention. Line dancing is an enjoyable way to get great exercise.

History Club

The next History Club meeting will be held at the Bella Vista Historical Museum at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, with a showing of the Jesse James movie filmed in Pineville, Mo., in 1938. Families are welcome to come take a break from Christmas shopping to enjoy the movie and find out why Bella Vista has a role in the story of the making of this movie. Admission is free and popcorn will be served. The Bella Vista Historical Museum is located at the corner of Highway 71 and Kingsland, next door to the American Legion.

Woodcarvers Club

The Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club invites new members to its club. The year 2018 marks the beginning of the club's 31st year as a club with nonprofit status. Member carvers hold varying levels of carving skills from beginner to master skilled and are willing to teach at no cost. The club also offers classes from time to time. There are several women members who work with pyrography (wood burning) as well as carving, and one member works with chain-saw carving. The Woodcarvers Club teaches soap carving classes to young area children in the Amazeum, at Cub Scouts and at the Bella Vista Public Library.

Amateur Radio Club

The Bella Vista Radio Club meets at 11 a.m. on the first Thursday of every month at the Highland Christian Church. Meetings are open to the public and new members are welcome.

The Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club also offers Amateur Radio license testing through the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). The Amateur Radio Testing sessions are held at 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month at the Highland Christian Church in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. (Highway 279 North).

Bella Vista Women's Chorus

Bella Vista Women's Chorus invites singers from the Tri-County Area to join this choral delight. No tryouts or experience are needed. The chorus performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events. Rehearsals are Mondays at 12:45 p.m. in the music room of Bella Vista First United Methodist Church. Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus meets every Monday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. Director Karen Frankenfeld will find a part that fits every voice. No previous experience or tryouts are required. Fly Tyers Club

The Fly Tyers Club meets 9 a.m. every Thursday at Riordan Hall for a social hour, followed by a meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is a fishing, conservation and service organization with approximately 150 members. This group of men and women share a common interest in fishing (both warm and cold-water species) found in the local streams and lakes of Bella Vista. The club also promotes lake conservation, recreational activities and conducts service projects throughout Northwest Arkansas.

Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus

Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus meets from 7 to 9 p.m. every Thursday at Innisfree Senior Living Community, 300 Innisfree Circle, Rogers, which is one block east on 24th and Walnut streets. Men's Chorus
