CBCO issues Code Red Emergency Appeal for type O-negative blood

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is the sole local provider of blood for patients at 40 area hospitals in southwest Missouri, northwest Arkansas and southeast Kansas. Sick and injured hospital patients depend on CBCO donors to provide the lifesaving blood they need.

Emergency appeal

CBCO has issued a Code Red Emergency Appeal for type O-negative blood. A Code Red Emergency Appeal means that there is less than a one-day supply of blood in reserve for patient use at those hospitals. The blood center needs an immediate response from type O-negative donors to overcome the low reserve levels.

Since it takes hundreds of donations per day to meet area patient needs, reserve levels can and often do fluctuate throughout the week. Blood donors of all types are encouraged to give soon at a CBCO blood drive or donor center.

Participants at any CBCO Blood Drive between the dates of Dec. 11-31 will receive a free long-sleeved shirt as a thank you gift. These shirts carry a very special holiday message. CBCO wishes our donors the happiest of holiday seasons.

You can help by giving blood at this upcoming blood drive in Pea Ridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Pea Ridge High School, located at 781 W. Pickens in Pea Ridge.
