Bella Vistans walk to defeat ALS

Special To The Weekly Vista

Buddy Gray, a Bella Vista resident, was recently diagnosed with ALS, a debilitating disease with no known cure. Upon learning the news, Buddy and his wife, Nancy, reached out for support and found the ALS Association of Arkansas. The ALS Association helps patients and families cope with the day-to-day challenges of living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. They provide information, resources and community services. They also sponsor nearly 200 walks across the country, one of which is scheduled at the Compton Gardens in Bentonville on Aug. 26.

The Grays have established a team of walkers, aptly named "Budman's Brigade," that will participate in the August walk. The walk draws people of all ages and athletic abilities to walk to honor a loved one with the disease and to show support for the cause.

"We are so blessed to have the resources of the ALS Association and look forward to showing support through the Walk," commented Nancy. "It means so much to us to have many friends walking with us."

The walk is open to anyone interested. Information on registering or donating to a walker or team of walkers can be found at www.als-arkansas.org or by calling 479-621-8700.
