Village Bible Church

Wednesday, Aug. 2, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This ministry is available to anyone in our area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of our friendly volunteers. The 5:30 p.m. dinner will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Alaska mission team trip (in lieu of the regular potluck meal). Donations will be accepted and the community is always welcome. At 6:30 p.m. there will be singing, devotions and prayer in the worship center. The community is always welcome. Nursery for infants and toddlers is available.

Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, Sunday School classes are offered for all ages at 9 a.m., followed by the 10:15 a.m. worship service, with communion. Pastor Mark Voll will continue his sermon series titled, "Life Application from Romans." This week's sermon title is: "To Judge or Not to Judge?" with a text of Romans 14:1-12. Infant and toddler nursery and children's church for kids are offered as well, and the community is always warmly welcomed.

Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m., a men's Bible study titled "The Nations in Prophecy" will meet in the fellowship hall and men from the community are always welcome. A ladies' KniTTogether ministry and the White Cross Women's Mission ministry also meet at 7 p.m. The ladies enjoy informal fellowship while working on projects that benefit needy children and adults in our area as well as a hospital in Congo. These are open to any ladies who would like to come and learn more about these ministries.

Bella Vista Baptist Church

Sunday morning schedule -- contemporary worship is at 8:30 a.m.; Bible study/Sunday school at 9:45 a.m.; traditional worship at 11 a.m. Sunday evening service is at 5 p.m. in the old sanctuary.

Men's prayer breakfast is every Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. in fellowship hall. The group is currently studying the book of Daniel.

Children's Summer Program is 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Join each week to learn what the Bible has to say about "Not Giving Up" in the story of Nehemiah.

Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting Service starts at 6 p.m., now through the summer months, in the old sanctuary. Youth activities begin at 6 p.m.

The Senior Adult Ministries hosts ice cream and a movie the fourth Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All adults are welcome.

St. Theodore Episcopal Church

Join the congregation for worship and celebration of the Holy Eucharist on Sunday morning at St. Theodore. There are two services of the Holy Eucharist. Rite I is at 8 a.m. and Rite II at 10:30 a.m. Coffee fellowship takes place after the 10:30 a.m. service.

St. Bernard Catholic Church

Supplies are running low in the food pantry! Please consider donating food items to re-stock the shelves. Donations may be dropped off in the kitchen.

The Women's Club is collecting school supplies to help less fortunate children attending Cooper Elementary and Gravette Schools. There will be a large box in the parish hall and narthex to place donations. See the current bulletin for a list of supplies needed.

On Wednesday, August 2, at 7 p.m., the Knights of Columbus officers will meet in the library.

The Rosary Guild meets every Wednesday at 9 a.m. in room 203 and the hall. Please consider joining the Guild and learning how to make rosaries. To date, 38,000 rosaries have been made and shipped all over the world! Anyone may stop in and purchase rosaries at that time.

Bingo will be held on Thursday, August 3, in the parish hall. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Jackpot is $1,000!

Calling all bowlers, there will be a meeting on Thursday, August 3, in the hall at 7 p.m. New bowlers are needed. Please call Betty Knipp or Mary Long to bowl.

On Friday, August 4, at 9 a.m., Our Lady of Refuge Prayer group will meet in the chapel and the Mah Jongg group will meet in the hall.

Shepherd Group #36 will meet in the hall on Saturday, August 5, at 1 p.m.

Caring Friends will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 7, in room 205.

Crafts will be held at 8 a.m. in the hall on Tuesday, August 8 .

" A Taste of Faith" dinner is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12. This dinner is to honor and support the Diocese of Little Rock Seminarians. This event provides the opportunity to make a financial contribution to help pay the costs of seminarian education and to acknowledge God's blessings on the diocese. Project Rachel will begin a new session in September. This spiritual journey lasts 11 weeks, with small groups of 6-8. Highlands Church

Adult Sunday school meets at 8:15 a.m. in the John classroom. Everyone is welcome to attend.

A new contemporary worship service is starting September 10 at 11 a.m. each Sunday.

A sweet ice-cream treat will be offered in the fellowship hall on Saturday, August 5, at 5 p.m. or immediately following the service on Sunday, Aug 6. A free will offering will be accepted. Proceeds will help to support the activities of the Highlands Student Ministry.

All are invited to join in the next Planning Ahead Series: "Your Life, Your Choice; Preparing and Coping with a Life Changing Diagnosis," presented by Circle of Life Hospice, on August 15, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Highlands Church fellowship hall. Admission to each program is one non-perishable food item.

Highlands Student Ministry, where middle school and high school students can share and grow their faith, is on Sunday's from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

New Wine Ministry

New Wine Ministry meets every Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Pastor Vincent Xavier ministers the Word, with Ken and Peggy Wagner leading the worship. There will be coffee fellowship before and after each service.

A Bible study is held in Decatur at 7 p.m. every Wednesday. Call for location.

Pastor Patricia Xavier leads a study on spiritual warfare and deliverance held at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the same location. The study is based on her book, "Deliverance -- The Christian's Bill of Rights."

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

The Lutheran Hour is broadcast every Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on radio station KURM-FM (100.3) and KURM-AM (790).

The Fellowship Team is asking for help in providing school supplies for Cooper Elementary School and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. The donation and a copy of the wish list is in the church narthex. The district is also asking for help for the Thomas Jefferson clothing drive and asking for children's sizes 10-12 medium and 14-16 Large and 18-20 X-Large.

The Men's Bible class meets on Mondays at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Please park in the rear parking lot and enter the lower level.

GriefShare classes will begin on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m., in the church library.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is requesting shampoo, deodorant and body wash. The food item is mashed potatoes. A container for donations is in the church narthex.

Unitarian Universalists

In August, UUBC services at Little Einstein Montessori School will be held only on Aug. 13.

Sunday School is available for children with a Unitarian Universalist adaptation of Jerome Berryman's book, "Spirit Play" as the primary resource. The morning is structured based on the Montessori approach. The key elements are the classroom environment and the teachers. These elements free the children to work at their own pace on their own activities after an initial lesson.

The Unitarian Universalists of Benton County meet at 1110 S.E. Evergreen St. (Little Einstein Montessori School) in Bentonville near the southeast corner of 14th and J streets. The Sunday service, which begins at 11 a.m., is preceded by coffee and social time beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Highland Christian Church

Highland Christian Church -- The Happening Place -- meets for worship with communion at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday school classes start at 9 a.m., offering three adult studies and "Creative Worship" for youth. Coffee fellowship is 10-10:30 a.m.

There will be a trip to Branson to Sight and Sound Theatre to see "Moses." This trip is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 12. The bus will leave the church at 8 a.m., with lunch at Montana Mikes at 11 a.m., the backstage tour at 1 p.m. and the Moses production at 3:30 p.m. Dinner is at McFarland's at 6:30 p.m., and arrival back at the church will be by 9:30 p.m. Cost is $110 per person, depending on the number of participants. Presbyterian Church

The community is invited for a traditional worship service on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. Holy Communion will be served. Christian education classes for all ages meet at 8:30 a.m. A nursery attendant is available. New friends are welcome.

Throughout the summer months, the Missions Committee will be collecting Snacks for Kids to be given to Helping Hands Food Pantry in Bentonville. Bring child-friendly food items such as snack and lunch items, cheese and crackers, single-serve fruit cups, juice packets/boxes, granola bars, microwaveable mac and cheese, ravioli, soups, etc. The donation table is located in the connector hallway. Items will be delivered frequently throughout the summer.

Bella Vista Community Church

Worship is 9:30 a.m. Sunday mornings, with coffee fellowship before and after the service. Pastor Jeff Reed will be preaching Sunday, July 30. During the worship service, a staffed nursery is available, as well as children's worship for ages 4-12.

Everyone is welcome to join the pastors Wednesday for weekly prayer and worship from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the chapel.

New Life Christian Church

A workshop presented by Susan Shumsky is Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will introduce proven techniques to open one's heart, mind and spirit to the riches of inner divine contact.

Sacred Social Action team continues to collect suitcases and laundry-style bags to hold toy items for the Children's Shelter.

United Methodist Church

United Methodist women will hold its annual rummage sale Saturday, Aug. 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Electronics, books, toys, tools, kitchenware, sporting goods, linens and knickknacks -- something for everyone -- will be on sale. Lunch is available after 10 a.m. Donations for the sale (No TVs, clothing or furniture) may be dropped off at the church in Becker Hall Monday, July 31, through Wednesday, Aug. 3. Use the Meals-on-Wheels entrance on the west side.

The children and youth of the church will have a family pool party at Riordan Pool Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a picnic at 6 p.m.

Friends plus Healthy Living meets Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel to share tips on making healthier life-style choices and encourage and uplift one another. The group will continue its weekly walks when the weather cools off a bit.

Men's Emmaus meets each Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Room 22. This group is open to any fellow who has gone through the Emmaus process.

The Bella Vista Men's Chorus meets each Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the music room.

Bazaar Craft Workshops meet on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will continue meeting every Thursday until the Oct. 7 Bazaar.

The Chancel choir and Chancel Handbell choir both resume rehearsals after a summer hiatus, on Wednesday, Aug. 2.
