Concordia Retirement expands outdoor activities

Special To The Weekly Vista

BELLA VISTA -- To enhance an already fulfilling and enriching lifestyle, Concordia Retirement Center recently installed a putting green, a horseshoe set and a bocce ball court for residents, employees and family members' entertainment.

"The outdoor campus looks more beautiful than ever," said Steve Dean, interim executive director of the senior living community in Bella Vista. "We have planted flowers, installed an outdoor patio and seating area, installed a putting green, horseshoe set and bocce ball court. The residents and family members are enjoying the outdoors now more than ever!"

The residents are taking advantage of the new recreational offerings and have formed a bocce ball team that plays weekly for a cash prize. They have also actively enjoyed improving their short game on the putting green while also competing in horseshoe tournaments.

"It's so healthy for the residents to get outside and to be active," said Sharon Bettis, Concordia Retirement Center's Life enrichment coordinator. "Despite the hot weather, we've been having, residents are loving every minute of these outdoor activities. We look forward to spending even more time outside this fall."

Bryan Cook, chief operating officer of Legacy Senior Living, the management company of Concordia Retirement Center, said, "Our mission is to serve the greatest generation with honor, respect, faith and integrity. We believe a vital part of this is cultivating healthy and active lifestyles. We are excited to have residents participating in these newly created spaces for outdoor games and activities"
