Special To The Weekly Vista

Ray Benton was awarded a lifetime membership in the Bella Vista Fly-Tyers. Last week's presentation to Benton was made by Jack Price on behalf of the Fly-Tyers.

Benton spent his growing-up years and early marriage in the central Missouri Ozarks, in Willow Springs, Mo. He was a game warden in Fort Collins, Colo.

He served the Fly-Tyers for many years as chairman of the Conservation Committee. In conjunction with the POA, Benton was instrumental in fish habitat construction in the Bella Vista lakes. He designed, acquired materials and supervised the construction of the habitats. He assisted in the placement of the habitats and made detailed maps of their locations.

The Bella Vista Fly-Tyers Club is a fishing, conservation, and service club consisting of approximately 150 members. The club promotes fishing, lake and recreational activities and conducts service projects throughout northwest Arkansas. The Club meets at 9 a.m. every Thursday morning at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista.
