Bella Vista resident receives Girl Scout award

Special To The Weekly Vista

Bella Vista resident Marilyn Irwin received one of the most prestigious annual awards given by Girl Scouts-Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas during the Girl Scouts-Diamonds recent annual conference.

Irwin received the Volunteer of the Year award, which recognizes the outstanding service of an individual adult Girl Scout who has made an impact on her local service unit. Irwin serves as the service unit treasurer, co-leader of Troop 5848, a volunteer trainer and a financial literacy trainer. She has a passion and willingness to help each individual troop leader with any questions or needs that may arise. Whether she is helping a new troop leader with financial training, outdoor training or guiding the girls in her troop, she always gives her all. Irwin also submits the annual service unit budget and makes sure that the volunteers use their financial resources wisely.

Girl Scouts-Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas serves over 9,000 girls and 3,700 volunteers and encompasses all counties in Arkansas except Crittenden.
