s An exhibit on the Gibson family, makers of Ozark split-oak baskets, is currently on display. Christopher Columbus "Lum" Gibson, who settled near the Spring Valley area in northeast Washington County, originated a basket design in the 1880s that has been passed down in the Gibson family for generations. The design is distinctive for its twill-patterned rectangular base, thick handle, and absence of nails. The exhibit will feature baskets from the University Museum collection as well as the Shiloh Museum collection. The museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale. s Bella Vista Lutheran Church will be holding a Hot Rod and Custom Car show in the front church parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For further information, contact Chuck Merriman at Bella Vista Lutheran Church at 479-855-0272.

s The Highlands Flea at Highlands Church will take place from 8 a.m. to noon. The Flea generates several thousand dollars for local women's and children's charities. Gently used items for sale will include household items, linens, decorative items, some furniture, tools, lawn and garden, jewelry and books. Donations will be accepted at Highlands Church Tuesday, May 10, through Friday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. No electronics or clothing will be accepted. All unsold items will be donated to the Care and Share in Gravette. If you would like to rent an outside space to sell your personal items, make reservations with Barb Zillman at 479-855-2277. The church is located at 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista.

s Attorney General's mobile office will conduct the following activities, all taking place at the Benton County Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 3501 SE 'L' St., Bentonville:

• Staff members will assist constituents with consumer-related issues in filing consumer complaints and providing information about scams, identity theft, fraud and other protections from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Prescription Drug Take Back: Authorities will be collecting prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, pet medicines, medicated ointments and lotions, inhalers, liquid medicines in glass or leak-proof containers and medicine samples from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Digital You Senior Presentation: Seniors and older adults who are digital newcomers will be given tips and tricks to learn how to use mobile devices, navigate the Internet, recognize scams, keep private information secure, back-up data and more so that they can be empowered online from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

s The 17-piece JM Band of Northwest Arkansas will present a concert paying tribute to the men and women who have served and are serving in the United States military. This Armed Forces Day event will begin at 7 p.m. at Riordan Hall. State Sen. Jim Hendren of Gravette will be the guest speaker. The concert is free to the public, but donations will be accepted for the maintenance of the Veterans Wall of Honor.

s Springdale for Monarchs, a community group working to establish butterfly habitats in and around Springdale, will present a program on "Building a Home Monarch Garden," 1 p.m. at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. The program will focus on the basics of designing a butterfly garden for your home, followed by a tour of the monarch garden demonstration site on the museum grounds. Northwest Arkansas is on the monarch's Canada-to-Mexico migration route; they'll be passing through the area around September. The Shiloh Museum is located at 118 W. s The 17-piece JM Band of Northwest Arkansas will play for a free Spring Swing and Salsa dance starting at 7 p.m. at Riordan Hall. This is a fundraiser for Court-Appointed Special Advocates for children. There will be limited seating for 300. Admission is free, but dancers can make a donation to CASA during the dance. CASA is a nonprofit corporation. All donations are tax deductible and go to CASA of Northwest Arkansas, benefiting children in this area. Sponsors of this important event are Bella Vista Village POA, the JM Band of Northwest Arkansas, Thrivent Financial and Chevron Humankind.

s George Washington Carver National Monument will host a National Trails Day event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come learn about national and local trails, hiking and bicycle safety, making your own trail mix, and more. Join a ranger and explore the park paths, trails and boundary roads. This event is free to the public. George Washington Carver National Monument is located at 5646 Carver Road, approximately 2 miles west of Diamond, Mo.
