Flags placed on golf courses

In observance of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7, the American flag will be used on all Par 3 holes at each of Bella Vista Village's 18-hole golf courses. Players are asked to hold the flags when they are removed from the hole.

Illinois-Indiana golf outing

The September golf outing for the Illinois-Indiana group will be at the Berksdale Golf Course on Sept. 20 with a 2 p.m. shotgun start. Those who would like to play should contact Ron Downs at 479-876-5115 or send an e-mail to [email protected].

Check course updates

Golfers in Bella Vista need to keep all eyes peeled for new Bella Vista Village course updates. Players, teams, groups and tournaments are being redirected to different courses.

The Bella Vista Country Club Golf Course closed on Monday, Aug. 10, for maintenance. The tentative reopening date for the course is Nov. 1.

The best way to stay informed about course changes is to sign up for the Golf Update. Golf Update is a free, weekly e-mail containing the latest news about golf in Bella Vista Village. Sign up at http://bellavistapoa.com/golf/golfupdate/index.asp.

Golf group leaders are being asked to check their email for an updated revised group schedule.

Tanyard Creek Center closing earlier

The Tanyard Creek Practice Center has started closing a little earlier. The facility will close at 7:30 p.m.

Tanyard Creek Practice Center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, the facility is open from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Golf Seminars set

The Bella Vista Property Owners Association will have its last beginner golf seminar of the season in September. The instructional seminars are for adults who are ready to enjoy all the benefits of golf. Seminars will be taught in four consecutive classes for a one-time fee of $30 with a limit of 20 participants a session.

All seminars are at Tanyard Creek Practice Center, 10 Nature Trail Lane, Bella Vista.

The last seminar will be on Wednesdays from Sept 2-23, at 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Registration forms are available online at bvvpoa.com as well as the Golf Division Office located at 98 Clubhouse Drive, Bella Vista. Registration form and payment should be submitted to the Golf Division Office.

Camo Classic set

The Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association is sponsoring the Camo Classic in support of armed forces men and women on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Berksdale Golf Course. The POA will donate $40 of each team's entry fee to the Folds of Honor Foundation. The Folds of Honor Foundation supports the families of fallen and injured United States soldiers.

The 18-hole four-person scramble event is open to all POA members and guests. The tournament will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun. Handicaps are not required. Flights will be determined upon the completion of play. All prizes will be in the form of golf shop gift certificates. Additionally, separate contests will be held on the golf course in conjunction with the tournament.

Male golfers 55 and younger will play from the blue tees (No. 2); male golfers 56 to 69 will play from the "combo tees" (combination of blues and whites); male golfers 70 and over will play from the white tees (No. 3). All female golfers will play from the red tees (No. 4).

The entry fee is $100 a team. Green and cart fees, which are not included in the entry fee, are AGGF card, $0; Value card, $17.50; member with a Photo ID, $21.50; member with a non-photo ID, $27; guest, $30.50; half a golf cart, $17. Prepayment is required. All registrations and cancellations had to be made by Monday, Aug. 31.

Two-Person Open

The Bella Vista Property Owners Association is introducing a new, one-day tournament in which all golfers may play at member rates.

The Two-Person Open, which will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Friday, Sept 25, at the Kingswood Golf Course, is open to all members and guests. Guests will pay the member rate as part of the village's "Member for a Day" promotion. Golfers without a member sponsor may register as a guest of the association.

The tournament will be an 18-hole "best ball" event. Handicaps are not required. Flights will be determined upon completion of play.

Men will play from a combination of blue tees (No. 2) and white tees (No. 3). Women will play from the red tees (No. 4).

The entry fee is $50 per team, which includes prizes in the form of golf shop gift certificates, range balls at the Tanyard Creek Practice Center and lunch at Cafe Amici at the Bella Vista Country Club.

Green fees and cart rentals are not included. Green fees are $15 for value card holders, $19 for members with a POA-issued photo identification card, $19 for guests and free for annual golf green fee card holders. Meanwhile, golf carts are $15 a player.

Fall mixer set

Bella Vista Village's Annual Fall Mixer, a three-day couples' tournament, is scheduled for Oct. 8-10 at the Kingswood and Berksdale courses. The tournament, which is open to members and their guests, is a modified scotch format. Spouses are not required to play together.

Entry fees for the following groups are: AGGF teams pay $100, Value Card teams pay $135, member teams pay $143, and guest teams pay $161. Entry fees include tournament golf, tee favors, flight prizes, pin contests, range balls and soft drinks on the course.

Additionally, six to 10 couples will play a six-hole alternate shot/alternate tee shoot-out event where the objective is to be the last group standing. Couples will be eliminated during the play of the six holes with the high score or scores on each hole.

A team scramble will be available for those seeking a more relaxed event. During this event, three to four couples will be paired together to play nine holes of alternate shot/alternate tee scramble.

Players participating in the shoot-out or team scramble will be required to pay a separate entry fee of $30 a team (member or guest), which includes a picnic at Riordan Hall following play. Picnic reservations are required. No refunds will be given.
