Friday, Oct. 9,

s The Bella Vista Historical Society will host an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bella Vista Historical Museum. Exhibits on display reflecting the 100 year history of Bella Vista. Refreshments and door prizes will be available. The museum is located next to the American Legion at the corner of U.S. 71 and Kingsland Road in Bella Vista.

s A Wesley Series concert will be presented at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, and will feature Pulitzer Prize nominated, Dan Knight, jazz pianist and composer. He will be joined by "The Usual Suspects," a group of local jazz virtuosos, and vocalist, Pam Pittman. Gourmet desserts will be available as well as coffee and iced tea. There will be a $10 a person donation to attend the evening of jazz and desserts. For more information, call the church office at 479-855-1158.

Saturday, Oct. 10

s The Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association will host the "Tide's Turnin' Tailgate Party" beginning at 4 p.m. at the Blowing Springs Park. The event's main attraction will be the Arkansas Razorbacks against the Alabama Crimson Tide football game at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The "Tide's Turnin' Tailgate Party" will be another event in the Association's year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary. All fans from different alma maters and loyalties are welcome to attend. There is no charge for the event. Tailgates loaded down with goodies will be provided with Dickey's Barbecue Pit at 5 p.m. will be the main course. The tailgate party also will offer door prizes, children's activities and other special events. The tailgate event will be showing the Arkansas-Alabama game on a large projection screen. Additionally, other games will be shown prior to the main event.

s Village on the Lakes Writers & Poets will host Madison Woods for the Second Saturday Reading Series at 6 p.m. at the Artist Retreat Center, 13467 Lookout Drive in Bella Vista. Woods will read from her work, and an open mic will follow. Anyone who wants to read a short excerpt from their work is invited to read during the open mic. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested by calling 479-268-6463.

Sunday, Oct. 11

s Two Bella Vista churches are working together to produce an event for the entire community. The Festival of Worship Through Music and Art will take place between 2 and 5:30 p.m. at the Highland's Church on Glasgow Road. The music begins at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary. The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista is also participating.

Wednesday, Oct. 14

s Writers and aspiring writers are invited to attend the monthly writers group hosted by Village on the Lakes Writers & Poets at 11 a.m. at the Artist Retreat Center, 13467 Lookout Drive in Old Bella Vista. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 15-17

s The annual juried Bella Vista Arts and Crafts Festival will feature nearly 300 artisans at the festival site on Arkansas 279, north of Rogers Road. In addition to artisans, there will be refreshments available along with free parking adjacent to the fair site. All proceeds from festival are used for art scholarships for promising young artists, donations to children's art programs, continuing education for artists/artisans, and other festival partnering organizations, who in turn use these funds to support others in the community.

s The Bella Vista Community Television will hold its annual meeting on at 6 pm. The meeting will take place at the TV station, which is located on the first floor of the Highlands Crossing, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd, Suite 203.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

s The City of Bella Vista and the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association would like residents to know that cooperation and coordination between the two organizations is continuing and moving forward. The organizations are committed to working toward the future success of Bella Vista. A "Town Hall" meeting hosted by both organizations is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Riordan Hall. The POA Board and the City Council will answer questions and gather with the community.

s Brooks Blevins, professor of Ozarks studies at Missouri State University, will present a program entitled, "The Ordinary Life of Extraordinary Minnie: A Searcy County Woman Greets the Modern World" at noon at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Blevins will discuss the life of Minnie Atteberry, a Searcy County farm woman who kept a daily diary from the 1930s into the 1960s. The Shiloh Museum is located at 118 W. s Join Mother Nature as she introduces her many woodland friends at Hobbs State Park -- Conservation Area's "Living Forest." The free performances are from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Listen to each animal's story. They have a lot to tell us. These educational messages will be uncomplicated and easy for young children to understand. Teenagers and adults will learn, too. Living Forest is for families with members of all ages. Hobbs State Park Visitor Center is east of Rogers on Arkansas 12 just east of the Arkansas 12 and War Eagle Road intersection. For more information, call 479-789-5000.
