Winter carnival set Nov. 28

The 2015 Winter Carnival will take place on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Riordan Hall.

Children will be able to give their lists and have their picture taken with Santa. Additionally, children can play games, make crafts, win prizes and candy.

The event is free and open to the public.

Clem Morgan, POA recreation director and his staff, oversee the crafts portion of the event.

"The carnival provides a special time to watch children make childhood memories," he said. "As my own kids have gotten older, I know how special it is to see the things they have made. At the carnival, we get to see the children make something that they take pride in, something they know their parents are going to love and something that's going to be on the tree."

Each child has the opportunity to make two ornaments and a card, Morgan said.

"Some even choose special colors that parents or grandparents like," he added.

Morgan tries to choose good quality crafts that will last through the years and offers several different types for different ages.
