Options for leave disposal this fall

The Property Owners Association wants to remind Bella Vista Village residents of the options available this fall for disposing of leaves, according to a news release from the Property Owners Association.

Residents may dump leaves at one of Bella Vista Village's stump dumps for free.

Leaves should be removed from any plastic bags or containers before they are dumped. In addition, wood cannot be cut inside of the dumps, and no household trash or commercial building materials will be accepted.

The stump dumps are open from sunrise to sunset.

The Bella Vista Lakes Committee wanted to remind residents that leaves should not be raked, blown, or otherwise dumped into the lakes.

"Disposing of leaves into the lakes contributes to the silting of the lakes," said Walter Hinojosa, chairman of the Bella Vista Lakes Committee. Raking or blowing leaves into the lakes allows debris to float to other homeowner docks, swimming area or lake front potentially spoiling their area. It also creates a nuisance by adding debris to the lake and clogging park creeks, boat ramps and drains."
