Cooper 1st graders name new fire truck

A brand new fire truck is here, and Cooper Elementary first graders have chosen its name.

The students from Mrs. Hamrick's first-grade class will be at Fire Station 1 at Town Center at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, to eat lunch with Bella Vista firefighters and then officially dub the brand new Class A pumper truck with the name "Fire Destroyer."

The truck was purchased this year and was delivered Nov. 12. The pumper will be put in service this week and housed at Station 2 near Metfield to be used for fire, EMS and rescue operations.

A contest was held earlier this fall among classes at Cooper Elementary to name the truck. The name was voted on by a special committee and chosen out of several options.
