Letter to the Editor

Thanks to Darrell Bowman for his work

I have served on the Lakes Committee of the POA for the past six years, the last two of which I have been its chairman. I believe I speak for all of my fellow committee members, past and present when I say to Darrell Bowman, "Thanks for a job well done!"

Darrell's departure is a real blow and I hope the POA Board gives serious and urgent consideration to his replacement.

Not only is Darrell a recognized expert in his field of lake management, but he was also very much a 'hands-on' kind of guy.

Whether it was spending whole nights on our lakes taking electro fish samples to provide a census of our fish population (and also verification of the success of his management plans), managing weed control, or obtaining (free to the POA) expensive experimental equipment designed to manage the highest water quality standards for our multi-use lakes, he did these all in an effort to preserve, protect, and improve our precious lakes.

Darrell went far above and beyond the call of duty, all while heading up an understaffed and underfunded department.

Thanks for all your hard work for our lakes ... it grieves me to say so long. Darrell, best of luck in your new endeavor with the state ... you will be missed here in Bella Vista.
