Kansas Sunflower Club

The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet Monday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 Lancashire Blvd. Those who were not at the last meeting, note this new meeting place. Just go in the main doors, past the lobby of pews to a large meeting room. We still have $3 pizza and drinks. Each attendee is asked to bring a pot luck salad, vegetable or dessert to share.

The Kansas Fun Time will be Bingo and each one is to bring one Bingo prize. All former Kansas residents are welcome. There are no dues. For more information, call Charles Learned at 479-855-3894.

Northwest Arkansas Coin Club

The Northwest Arkansas Coin Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Embassy Suites hotel at exit 83 of I-49 in Rogers from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The group is seeking collectors of coins and currency to join them for fun and entertainment each month.

Bella Vista Needlework Club

The Bella Vista Needlework Club meets at Riordan Hall every Monday morning at 10 a.m. The group includes those who knit, crochet, cross-stitch, weave, quilt or do various kinds of needlework. There is plenty of room, large tables and light. For those without a POA photo ID card, they will need to pay $2.25 at the desk. The annual group fee is $2. The first Monday of each month the club has a meeting and refreshments.

Laureate Alpha Gamma

Laureate Alpha Gamma chapter of Beta Sigma Phi hosted an informational meeting on Nov. 11, 2015, at Highland's Crossing. Present were 58 members from the chapter as well as the other three chapters in Bella Vista. The guest speaker was Mary Catron, who hiked the Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango Colo., in the summer of 2015. She walked 487 miles over 43 days. She showed many beautiful photographs that she took along her way.

The chapter collected food items that were delivered to the Oasis Food Bank at Village Bible Church. They also collected cosmetic and other necessary items for women at the Bentonville Women's Shelter. A $200 check was presented to Cooper Elementary School and will be used to provide shoes for those children who are in need.

The next meeting will be held on Dec. 9 at the home of Janice Kennedy. The group will have its Christmas Gift exchange with their secret pals at that meeting. A couples dinner will be held on Dec. 19 at The Plaza with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schmitz as acting hosts. Reservations were accepted by Linda Dahlquist. Please have any further reservations given to Linda no later than Dec. 13.

The Village Art Club

The Village Art Club of Bella Vista held its monthly meeting on Nov. 10. Porcelain Master Artist Helen D. Sammarco, guest artist, first presented several porcelain portrait art works.

She presented to her audience various handouts with reference to creating a portrait likeness with features. She demonstrated what porcelain art is, how to grind minerals and discussed the difference on firing a kiln to achieving a finished product. A drawing was held and six china decorator magazines were distributed to the winners.

Sammarco holds classes in her studio, and the Porcelain Art Club meets in her studio every Monday at 9 a.m. Call 479-883-8775 for more information.

Bella Vista Women's Chorus

The Bella Vista Women's Chorus invites singers from the tri--county area to come join it. All are welcome with no tryouts or experience needed. Directed by Dr. Larry Zehring, the BVWC performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events.

Perfect Harmony

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus meets at 7 p.m. every Monday in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. The chorus has a part that fits the voice, no previous experience is required and there are no try outs. The chorus is now working on holiday selections that it will sing for various performances in the area.

Altrusa International

Altrusa meets at the River Grille in Bentonville at 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. It is an international women's organization whose focus is children's literacy. All are welcome.
