s Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has issued a Code Yellow Alert for O negative and AB negative blood types. There is currently less than a two-day supply of these blood types available for area patients. There will be a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Allen's Food Market, 60 Sugar Creek Center, Bella Vista. s Jim Rees, a volunteer with the Arkansas Archeological Survey and the University of Arkansas Museum Collection, will present "The Music Archeology of the Prehistoric Ozarks" at noon at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. The museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale.

Thursday Nov. 19

s St. Bernard Catholic Church's charitable bingo will be held at 6:30 p.m. at St. Bernard's Hall, 1 Saint Bernard Lane, Bella Vista. Proceeds go to local charities, and there will be a $700 jackpot with a $300 second chance on the last game. Everybody is welcome.

Friday, Nov. 20

s Bella Vista Village 50th anniversary event "Home for the Holiday's." will start at 6 p.m. at Riordan Hall. The event will include gingerbread cookie decorating for the kids, a bow making workshop, silent auctions, a visit from Santa and performances by several local choirs. This is a family event and will kick off the holiday season.

Saturday, Nov. 21

s Nature photographer Tim Ernst will present a slide program entitled, "A Rare Quality of Light: Forty Years of Wilderness Photography," at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. The museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale.

Sunday, Nov. 22

s Naturalist, photographer, herbalist and author Madison Woods will teach nature journaling at the Hobbs State Park Visitor Center from 1 to 4 p.m. Woods will lead the class on a voyage of listening, looking and feeling for connections that transport. The class will include an optional easy nature walk, a communing exercise, a discussion and practice of nature translation through words, art, and photography. Cost for the workshop is $15. s The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 South Main. Saturday, Nov. 28

s The 2015 Winter Carnival will take place on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Riordan Hall. Children will be able to give their lists and have their picture taken with Santa. Additionally, children can play games, make crafts, win prizes and candy. Each child has the opportunity to make two ornaments and a card. The event is free and open to the public. Friday, Dec. 4

s The 17-piece JM Band of Northwest Arkansas will present a special Christmas concert at 7 p.m. at Riordan Hall, in Bella Vista. The event is free and open to the public. There will be a presentation for the Veterans Wall of Honor Memorial expansion, along with an opportunity to give. The event is sponsored by the Bella Vista Property Owners Association, Thrivent Financial and Chevron Humankind.

Saturday, Dec. 5

s The 27th Annual Highlands Church Cookie Walk. The doors open at 8 a.m. The "walk" actually begins at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until 11 a.m., or until all the cookies are gone. s Bella Vista Community Church will hold its annual English Christmas Tea. The theme this year is "Angels Among Us." There are two seatings, 1 p.m and 3 p.m. with the program provided by Charles and Company at 2 p.m. Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 9, at $10 each at the church, 75 E.
