The 49th annual meeting of the Bella Vista Property Owners Association drew approximately 150 members and lasted only 30 minutes. The results of the annual election of the Board of Directors were announced.

Three new directors will take their seats on June 1. Elected were Joshua Hart, a Walmart vendor who received 5,699 votes; Pat Laury who was a college professor and later a project manager for major corporations with 5,211 votes; and Ron Stratton, a former member of the marketing and golf committees who retired from the pharmaceutical industry. Stratton received 4,486 votes.

The 5,617 ballots returned represented 7,469 lots and about 25 percent of the possible votes. Third- and fourth-place was separated by only 51 votes.

The fourth candidate, Steven McKee, a financial planner who attempted to lease the Highlands Restaurant last year could be appointed by the board to fill the term of Linda Leffler who was asked to leave the board in April. Chairman Charlie Teal explained that POA governing documents give the decision to fill that vacancy to the new board.

Leaving the board is Teal and Joan Glubczynski. Both chose not the run. The third seat was occupied by Mike Erixon, but he resigned in January when he moved out of the area.

Also at the meeting, Teal reviewed the accomplishments of the last year. He was filling in for General Manager Tommy Bailey who was called out of town for a family emergency. Treasurer Dwain Mitchell summarized the association's financial report and audit.
