God answers the call at times of helplessness

In times of helplessness it is normal to cry out for help. Children do it naturally.

Perhaps that is why God's word says in Mark 10:15 -- "I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." (NIV)

I know that, for reasons known only to God, not all prayers are answered. But there are certainly times that God intervenes, again ... for reasons only known to Him, when it is amazing to see His providence.

Memorial Day celebrations are on my mind and I recently read a story, a testimony really, of one of our veterans who called out for help and received it.

During World War II, a bomber pilot was flying on a mission when his plane was hit by antiaircraft fire. The plane began to spin out of control and fall toward the ocean below.

The pilot later said, "I began to pray for God to help me, but that was the last I knew until I regained consciousness floating in the water. I was in bad shape. My leg was gone below the knee and I knew that I would bleed to death in a few minutes. Then something nudged me. It was a piece of plywood with the plane's first-aid kit on it. I got the tourniquet out of it and my co-pilot helped me to get the thing on and stop the bleeding. Another plane came along and dropped a life raft. Then four hours later, we were picked up by a rescue boat. If you don't call that a miracle, I would like to know what it is! God answered my prayer."

What a wonderful story from one of our veterans!

In Jeremiah 33:3, the Lord says, "Call to Me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know."

I call Jeremiah 33:3 God's phone number. He says if you call, he will answer. I don't know what you've been through or what you are going to go through, but I have just enough childlike faith within me to encourage you to call out to God. God will help you, if you just let Him.

God bless you and have a great day.
