Bella Vista Fly Tyers Club

The Bella Vista Fly Tyers fishing and conservation club will host Mitch Glenn of Arkis Jigs on Thursday, March 19. He will demonstrate how to rig crappie jigs for catching a bonanza of fish. The session begins at 9:30 a.m. at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Visitors are welcome.

Kingsdale Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will hold their weekly square dance Monday, March 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Grant Roth will be the caller. A brief workshop at 6:30 p.m. will precede the dance. Beginning square dance lessons for existing students continue on Saturday, March 21, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Kansas Sunflower Club

The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet Monday, March 23, at 11 a.m. in the Village Insurance Community Room for a pizza luncheon and Bingo. Pizza will be ordered after participants arrive. Those attending should bring a small salad or dessert to share and a Bingo prize.

All former Kansas residents are welcome to attend Sunflower Club meetings. There are no dues.

For the Monday, April 27, meeting, Bella Vista's Roy Clark will perform Western music.

Military Officers Association

The Bella Vista chapter of MOAA will hold its next dinner meeting March 24 at Concordia, 1 Concordia Drive, Bella Vista. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Tom Ruck, director of the Fayetteville National Cemetery. All men and women who once served as officers of the United States armed forces qualify for membership in MOAA.

Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club

Savannah Swaffar, NWA blood drive consultant for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, will be the guest speaker at the March 25 meeting of the Sunrise Rotary Club meeting. This group has a breakfast meeting every Wednesday at 6:45 a.m. at the Concordia Retirement Center, main building, 1 Concordia Drive, Bella Vista.

Bella Vista Bluebird Society

At the annual monitor's meeting of the Bella Vista Bluebird Society on Feb. 26, Jim Janssen was recognized as the retiring president after serving in that capacity for 20 years.

Leon Wehmeyer was elected as the new president with Janssen staying on as a trail boss, and making and installing birdhouses for sale to individuals in the Bella Vista area. The cost is $40 installed with the proceeds going to purchase the materials.

Anyone interested in buying a bluebird house and having it placed on your property, or becoming a bluebird monitor should call Wehmeyer at 479-855-1642. No experience is necessary to become a monitor. Training is provided. Watch for a spring meeting date for the public where new monitors will be welcome.

Bella Vista Garden Club

The Bella Vista Garden Club will meet Wednesday, March 25, at the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista. A social gathering will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a meeting at 11:30 and a light lunch. C.W. Doss, Benton County Master Gardner, will talk about "Pollinators: Increasing Awareness" and how these birds and insects are essential to healthy plants. In addition, Judi Hentsch will present "miniature table design" and Mary Doyle will discuss fertilizing the garden. The meeting is open to everyone interested in gardening.

Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild

The Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild will meet March 23 at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista. The meeting begins at 1 p.m. or bring a sack lunch and come at noon to socialize and visit with the vendor from Rebecca's Quilt Shop, Concord, Oklahoma.

Guest speaker, Paula Marie Daughtery, will talk about "Binding Made easy." The meeting will follow the speaker and precede show and tell. Bring green fat quarters for drawing.

Visitors are welcome. There is a $5 cover charge for non-members to defray expenses.

Beginning Quilting Class

New and revised curriculum. Learn the basics of quilting from cutting, piecing, sewing and quilting by hand and by machine.

The first meeting will be March 20 at 1 p.m. in Bella Vista. A small fee will be charged at the meetings to cover the cost of supplies and patterns.

Retired Nurses

of NWA

The retired nurses of NWA will meet Tuesday, March 31, in the Community Room at the Mercy Clinic, 1 Mercy Way (across from Cooper Elementary) in Bella Vista. The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. with an optional lunch and social time. At noon the guest speaker will be Jim Graham from the Cornerstone Pharmacy. He will address polypharmaacy, drug interactions and questions.

The meeting is open to retired or semi-retired nurses, spouses and guests. Reservations are requested by Wednesday, March 25.
