Scheuerell to join BZA board

There's going to be a new face on the Board of Zoning Adjustments this spring.

Sherrolyn Scheuerell was introduced to the board at its Feb. 18 meeting, and effective March 1 she'll be an official member.

"I'm excited to be involved with the community," Scheuerell said Feb. 19 in a phone interview.

Scheuerell replaces John Flynn, who won a seat on the City Council last November. Her term will last two years.

Currently the personal and professional development coordinator for Northwest Arkansas Community College, Scheuerell spent 20 years working for the city of Springdale. She was often involved in building, zoning and planning decisions.

"I was looking to get back involved in some aspect," Scheuerell said.

Jennifer Bonner, Bella Vista Planner I, said Scheuerell should be a solid addition to the board because she "comes from the staff (point of view) instead of the untrained individual/resident," Bonner said.

Flynn concurred, telling the council at its Feb. 23 meeting that "from what I've seen, (Scheuerell's) background is very appropriate for the BZA."

In other business, the BZA approved meeting minutes from November and elected officers for 2015. Chairwoman Linda Lloyd and vice-chairman/secretary Robert Walker were re-elected unanimously to their positions. The terms last for one year.
