The Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association has been making upgrades to the POA facilities as required by The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), since March.
The funds for the ADA improvements came from the proceeds of the sale of the safety buildings to the City of Bella Vista, according to a press release from the Property Owners Association. ADA upgrades are required by federal law.
Included in the upgrades has been interior and exterior work upgrading restrooms and showers, parking lots, ADA parking areas, swimming pools, the Kingsdale Grill and the Bella Vista Country Club.
"Right now, we're about seventy-five percent done with our ADA improvements," said Don Schmutz, environmental health and safety director. "The rainfall over the spring and so far this summer delayed the outside construction improvements.".
Work is currently being done on the BVCC parking lot and is scheduled to conclude over the weekend.
Schmutz added that the POA is appreciative of its members for their understanding.
"We just really want to thank our wonderful members for being so patient during this inconvenience," he said. "These improvements will benefit them."
Café Amici has been open for business during the ADA parking lot improvements and continues to serve its patrons. Recently, Café Amici was awarded "Best Burger in NWA" by Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's Deal Piggy.
