Flags placed on golf courses

In observance of Independence Day, the American flag will be used on all Par 3 holes at each of Bella Vista Village's 18-hole golf courses. Players are asked to hold the flags when they are removed from the hole.

WGC Firecracker Scramble

The Bella Vista Women's Golf Club's "Grand Old Flag" Firecracker Scramble will be held July 2 on the Kingswood Golf Course. This is a two-lady scramble. Registration begins at 7 a.m with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

The entry fee is $40 per team and includes a luncheon and prizes. Special prizes will be given for the best decorated cart and patriotic dress.

The luncheon and mid-season meeting will be at Riordan Hall immediately following play. For entries eceived after June 24, no refunds will be made. Entry fees do not include green fees or carts.

Golf Seminars set

The Bella Vista Property Owners Association is offering beginner golf seminars. The instructional seminars for adults who are ready to enjoy all the benefits of golf. Seminars will be taught in four consecutive classes for a one-time fee of $30 with a limit of 20 participants a session.

Golf skill instruction will include driving, iron play, chipping and putting. Basic rules, course etiquette, safety, score keeping, and ready play will be reviewed during the sessions. The last day of the seminars will include a casual yet structured setting of on-course play.

All seminars are at Tanyard Creek Practice Center, 10 Nature Trail Lane, Bella Vista.

Seminar dates and times are as follows:

• July 1-22, 2015, 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Wednesday)

• Sept 2-23, 2015, 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Wednesday)

• Aug 1-22, 2015, 10-11 am (Saturday)

Fourth of July Couple's Scramble set

The Highlands Fourth of July Couple's Scramble Golf Tournament sponsored by Friends of the Highlands is set for Saturday, the Fourth of July at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Check-in is by 8:30 a.m. Dinner to follow at 2 p.m. at the Highlands Clubhouse.

Teams will consist of one man and one woman, but limited to the first 72 couples. The cost is $60 a couple that includes dinner, tax and tip, but no green fees or carts. Women and men 80 or older may play from the No. 4 tees, all other men play from the blue/white tees.

Tournament will be flighted after play. There will be $2,000 in prizes and two casino packages to be given away. Soft drinks and water will be provided on the course. In case of inclement weather, the dinner still will be held and prizes awarded. Cancellations must have been made by Saturday, June 28, to receive a full refund.

Men's Classic Tournament

Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association will host the Men's Classic Tournament that will take place July 10-12 at the Bella Vista Country Club.

The Men's Classic will consist of two 18-hole rounds of two-man best ball. The entry fee is $130 per team and does not include cart or green fees. The entry fee covers flight prizes (golf shop gift certificates) and tee gifts. Gift certificates will be awarded to first, second and third place overall finishers of each flight, CTP's and day money.

Registration forms are available at the Village's golf shops or on the association's website. Registration forms and payments should be delivered to the Golf Division office, 98 Clubhouse Drive, Bella Vista. The last day to register is Monday, July 6.

All family tourney set

Enjoy some family fun and friendly competition July 25-26 at Bella Vista Village's "All in the Family" Golf Tournament.

The tournament, which will take place on the Kingswood and Berksdale golf courses, is open to property owners and their guests. Teams must consist of at least two relatives. Each player must be 6 or older. However, husband and wife teams are not allowed.

Each day of play will consist of 18 holes of golf -- nine holes of modified scotch twosomes and nine holes of scrambles.

The entry fee is $80 per team, which includes lunch on Sunday and flight and closest-to-the-pin prizes. Green fees and carts are not included. Green fees are $29.50 for value card holders, $35.50 for members, $54.50 for guests, $18 for junior golfers and free for annual golf green fee card holders.

Meanwhile, golf carts are $26 per player (For holders of an AGGF or Value Card, carts are no extra charge). All fees must be prepaid.

The registration and cancellation deadline is Friday, July 17.

Lads and Lassies for Scotsdale

This group wants to support, improve and promote golf play on the Scotsdale golf course in Bella Vista. Anyone who shares this agenda is welcome.

There will be a few service projects, tournaments to help finance these projects and hopefully, golf socials for members throughout the season.
