Golf cards called a success

Dozens of area residents have seen what Bella Vista has to offer and some of them will come back as result of a successful marketing effort, General Manager Tommy Bailey said recently.

This year, with the help of TV station KFSM Channel 5 in Fort Smith, 300 golf cards were sold between March and June. Each card represented six rounds of golf, marketing and communications manager Ashlee Napier said. The cards cost $175 each, but Napier couldn't say how much of that fee goes to the POA and how much stays with KFSM.

Many of the card buyers bring their friends along, so they also have the chance to see what Bella Vista has to offer.

"They're a wonderful thing," Golfer David Hogan enthused as he played the Country Club Course two weeks ago. After buying the card, Hogan and his friends drive up each Friday from Fort Smith to play a round of golf on Saturday. "I'm trying to get my wife to move up here," he said, but she's not yet retired.

"This is the best golf buy out there," he added.

Besides exposing card purchasers to Bella Vista, the program gives the POA "premium exposure on their website, social media, on their TV station, during news broadcasts and other spots as time and resources allow," Napier wrote in an email. She said she didn't know of any member complaining about the program.

This is the third year for the program, Bailey said, and he believes it's been very successful.
