The Bella Vista Historical Society recently received a generous donation from an anonymous donor who paid for new carpet in the Cooper Room, which was installed on June 4 by Dan Taylor and his crew.

The Benton County Jail work detail team were also present that day to do all the necessary furniture moving. They loaded a dumpster several times with the scrap pile left over from the spring construction of the museum's new room, and performed a variety of other tasks throughout the building.

Carole Harter expressed her appreciation, on behalf of the Historical Society, to the Benton County Jail for making available the deputy and trusties for the day, to Republic Services of NW Arkansas for providing the dumpster for removal of the scrap pile, to Mayor Peter Christy for his help in obtaining the dumpster, to Harps and Allen's Food Market for donating lunch, and especially to the anonymous donor, without whose help the museum would not have been able to carpet the Cooper Room this year.

The balance of that donor's contribution has been added to the Building Fund, she said, which was created to raise money to pay off the loan for the new addition. Others who would like to contribute may send their checks to BVHS, 1885 Bella Vista Way, Bella Vista AR 72714.

The museum is open each week from noon to 4 p.m.Wednesdays through Sundays, located at the corner of US-71 and Kingsland Road, next to the American Legion. Visitors are welcome to tour the exhibits representing the 100-year history of Bella Vista. Admission is free.
