Northwest Arkansas artist Nancy Dallison has released a summer workshop schedule for classes at the Artist Retreat Center, 13467 Lookout Drive in Old Bella Vista. Dallison will teach classes in both abstract painting and metal working.
The Workshop, "Painting Abstracts," will be July 11, 25, Aug. 8, 22, and Sept. 5. This class is for beginners as well as for those with experience who want to delve further into abstract painting. Students will learn how to start with shape, color, line and texture to create a completed work using water-based paint and other mediums. Students can register for the series of classes or for a single session, as each class will explore different methods. The fee is $35 for each session and includes all supplies.
The "Words on Metal" Workshop will be offered July 15 and Aug. 8 and 22. If a person has a favorite inspirational word, meaningful date, initials or latitude-longitude position, they will be able to turn it into a special stamped charm that will be a unique creation, or create a simple decorative charm with design help from Nancy. All supplies and tools will be provided. The class is appropriate for beginners or those who have experience with metal work and is limited to six students. The Aug. 22 class is part of the ARC's Saturday Night Social, so bring your best friend, snacks and beverages and make it a "date night." The cost for each session class is $40 and includes all supplies.
Dallison holds a degree in art education from the University of Arkansas and works in several different mediums.
