Village Writing School offers workshop in Rogers

The Village Writing School, an independent creative writing school and 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Eureka Springs, will be continuing their series of basic writing craft workshops in Rogers. The school will be offering monthly creative writing workshops in Rogers, continuing in the New Year with "Dialogue and Setting."

The Rogers program is a complete series of basic creative writing workshops. The workshops cover the necessary elements of all narrative prose, which includes fiction and creative nonfiction, such as memoir. The workshop modules are designed to be taken in any order and topics covered will include How to Begin, Character, Dialogue, Setting, Subtext, High Events, and much more. These workshops are designed to meet the needs of both established and beginning writers and are a great way to honor any creative New Year's resolutions.

The Rogers workshops are taught by Eureka Springs resident Kenzie Doss, who has an MFA from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. "I'm very excited to continue with the Village's Rogers branch," says Kenzie, "I look forward to opening the New Year with my students and to taking a fresh look at the writing craft."

Anyone interested in writing, whether a true beginner or an established writer, is invited to attend workshops in the New Year and discuss personal writing goals.

The next workshop will be held at Schlotzsky's at 2709 West Walnut St. on Jan. 17 from 9 -- 4 p.m. with an hour for lunch. Each all-day workshop will cost $45, with a special discounted price for the complete set of five workshops. For more information or to register, contact 479-292-3665 or [email protected].
