Community Church

Each Wednesday free blood pressure checks are available in the nurses' office from 9 a.m. to noon at Bella Vista Community Church. This service is also available the last Sunday of each month at 9 a.m. in the parlor.

The usual Wednesday night family activities will resume with pizza at 6 p.m., followed by Bible study for all ages. A nursery will be provided.

A Newcomers' Orientation will be tonight, at 6:30 p.m. in the parlor. All those interested in knowing more about Community Church are invited to attend.

Growing Through Grief support group meets at 1 p.m. Thursday in the meeting room. The Prayer Shawl Ministry also meets Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the parlor.

Hope Happens Here cancer support group meets Thursday, Jan. 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the parlor.

Diabetes support group will convene Friday, Jan. 23, at 9:30 a.m. downstairs in room 10.

Coffee fellowship is offered at 9 a.m. Sunday with the worship service starting at 9:30. A staffed nursery and Children's Teaching Time for ages 4-12 years are available during the worship service. Adult Sunday school is from 8 to 9 a.m.

The Prostate Cancer Support Group will gather Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 4 p.m. in the meeting room.

Highlands Church

A four-week, churchwide spiritual emphasis campaign will launch Jan. 11 and conclude Feb. 7. The theme is "The Power of a Whisper" by Bill Hybels of Willowcreek Church. The Tan and Jam Adult Sunday School Class meets every Sunday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Visitors are welcome.

Highlands Church is holding a 'Souper' Sunday by collecting cans of soup prior to Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 1. The cans of soup will be delivered to Bella Vista food pantries. Drop-off containers are located in the church entrance areas.

SOS Youth Ministry is sponsoring a Valentines spaghetti dinner on Sunday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 6 p.m. A reservation list is located in the gathering area. Tickets are not sold, but donations are accepted. The deadline for reservations is Thursday morning, Feb. 12.

The next HUMMERS blood drive is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.Wednesday, Feb. 25.

Bella Vista Christian Church

Two Sunday services are held at 9 and 10:45 a.m. at Bella Vista Christian Church. KidTown worships and programming are held for the entire service at both hours for infants through fifth grade.

Student Ministries for junior high through high school meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the new student center in the lower level at the church. All teens in the community are welcome.

A Men's Forge Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Red Onion Restaurant in Bentonville. The session will kick-off its new Bible study "Victory in Spiritual Warfare," which begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3.

A Soup and Chili Bowl Party will be held at the church on Sunday, Feb. 1, to watch the big football game on big screens. This is open to everyone in the church and community. Sign up on the church website.

Unitarian Universalists

of Benton County

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County will feature another presentation on UU Learn by Andee DeRouen Sunday, Jan. 25.

UUBC has relocated to 1110 SE Evergreen St. (Little Einstein Montessori School) in Bentonville near the southeast corner of 14th and J Streets.

Each Sunday service begins with an all-inclusive opening and a traditional closing. The program usually lasts 30-40 minutes. Coffee and social time begins at 10:30 a.m. and the program begins at 11 a.m.

Village Baptist

The Rev. Bill Bowen will bring the message at the 10:15 a.m. service Sunday, Jan. 25, at Village Baptist Church. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9 a.m. A nursery is provided.

Bella Vista Lutheran

Parent's Night Out will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. All kids 3 years and up are invited to fun, games, crafts, Bible stories and a kid friendly meal. Choir rehearsal is at 7 p.m.

The Friendly Stitchers gather at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22.

Shepherd's Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. Requested items include hygiene products, such as diapers, diaper wipes, canned meat and soup. A shopping cart for donations is in the fellowship hall entry.

Sunday morning worship is at 8:30 a.m. for the traditional service and at 10:45 a.m. for the blended service. Sunday school for all children and adult Bible classes are at 9:45 a.m.

"Winter Fun Day" for children will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. Parents can drop their children off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. There will be time for songs, games, crafts, stories, lunch and snacks.

Presbyterian Church

Ladies of the church will gather for a monthly Birthday Luncheon Friday, Jan. 23, at 11:30 a.m. for those celebrating birthdays during the month. Please sign up at the information center to learn the location of this month's luncheon.

Everyone is invited to join us for a traditional worship service on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. We always welcome new friends to God's House. On the fourth Sunday of each month food items are collected for the Helping Hands Food Pantry. This month the requested food item is canned meat, although any food item or monetary donations would be appreciated. The collection table is located in the connector hallway.

Sunday Cinema follows the Jan. 25 potluck. The church will be hosting "The Akashic Records and the Illusion of Time" with Kevin Todeschi. Todeschi is CEO of Edgar Cayce's' A.R.E. What is time? How does Earth differ from time on the "other side" will be addressed.

Forest Hills Church

A casual drop-in coffee and sweets fellowship begins at 9 a.m., followed by Bible studies at 9:45 a.m. at Forest Hills Church. United's JAM Children's Ministry will be holding their annual "Souper Bowl" fundraiser on Feb. 1, following the church service. This year in addition to collecting donations, the soup lunch will be served downstairs. Donations will go into team pots as usual. Sign up by those planning to attend is crucial to ensure everyone gets food. Should bad weather interfere Feb. 1, the event will be rescheduled for the following Sunday. All donations will go towards our Pack Shak goal of $1,500. The Pack Shak of NWA is a local organization similar to Feed My Starving Children. A sign up sheet is in the narthex for the soup lunch.

Evangelical Free

Village Bible Evangelical Free Church's Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

The Missions Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. and the Women's Ministry Board will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting. The family potluck dinner will also begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by family praise and prayer fellowship plus children's and youth activities at 6:20 p.m. Worship team practice will be at 7:30 p.m.

The Rev. Ron Morris will begin a new Bible study on Romans at 6:30 p.m. This study is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

On Friday, Jan. 23, the Women's Ministry will host a "SCREEMO" Game Night for the church family. Attendees are asked to bring a snack to share. Beverages and prizes will be provided.

Sunday school classes will be available for all ages at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, followed by the 10 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Mark Voll will continue his preaching series, "Certain to Happen in 2015." His sermon title will be "We Will be Closer to Jesus' Return" with a text of John 14:1-6. Infant nursery and children's church will be available during the worship service. At 2:30 p.m. a ministry team from the church will provide a chapel service at The Meadows independent and assisted living facility in Bentonville.

Also at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, the church will provide a preview of "Financial Peace University," a nine-lesson money management video course taught by Dave Ramsey who teaches God's ways of handling money. Weekly classes will begin Sunday, Feb. 8, at 6:30 p.m. This course is open to anyone in the community.

Intercessory Prayer for the Building Program will be held at the church at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26.

The ladies' Bible study, "Ecclesiastes -- A Woman of Contentment," will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27. Joanne Morris will lead the study.

The men's Bible study on Romans, led by the Rev. Ron Morris, will resume meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The ladies' KniTTogether ministry and the White Cross EFCA Women's Mission ministry also meet at 7 p.m.

Beginning in March, Unity will resume the Sunday morning class at 9 a.m. discussing the book "Discover the Power Within You" by Eric Butterworth. This is an excellent book to learn more about Unity teachings.

Methodist

Youth Life meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. for junior and senior high students.

The Rev. Zach Underwood has begun a 12-week study of the Old Testament using materials from "Epic of Eden" by Dr. Sandra Richter as of Thursday, Jan. 15. Sign up in the church office.

The Care and Share trailer will be in the upper parking lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, to collect donations.

On Saturday, Jan. 24, the church will host a meal-packing party in partnership with The Pack Shack. The goal is to pack 10,000 meals. Each meal costs 25 cents. The meals will then be distributed to local food banks. Everyone can be a part of the "party." There's a job for everyone, and it's a perfect project for families, children, youth, circles or shepherd groups. Call the church office at 479-855-1158 to learn more.

Also Saturday, Soaring Solos will meet in Becker Hall to help with The Pack Shack and then go on to the Dairy Queen for a meal. Specific times and details to follow. All singles are welcome.

A single men's fellowship group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in Becker Hall. The memories associated with any loss, and the problems of adjusting to life as a single person is expressed in the supportive setting of a group of individuals who have all had similar experiences. A Caregivers Support Group provides an essential support system for those who are primary caregivers of family or friend. They meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 9 a.m. Those who may feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of a caregiver are welcome to attend any of these meetings.
