Traveling Sams donate to charities

Thirty-three members and guests of the Bella Vista Traveling Sams met Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at the Bella Vista Country Club for the annual Christmas dinner.

President Carol Buchl called the meeting to order before the lunch. Don Cowell introduced his guest Royce Barnes. Cowell led the prayer before the group ate its turkey and ham Christmas dinner.

Buchl announced that the Bella Vista Traveling Sams was organized 34 years ago on Dec. 15, 1977.

She installed the new officers for the 2015 year. They are Gary Reynolds, president; Duane Johnson, vice president; Brenda Johnson, secretary; Vic Horswell, treasurer; and Max Waugh, wagon master.

Wagon Masters John and Arlen Farrell led in Christmas Bingo and presented poinsettias for game prizes.

All members brought items to be given to one of three different service projects for Christmas. Items were collected were for the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, Toys for Tots or Project Linus, a nonprofit organization that provides homemade blankets to children in need. Some members brought used suitcases that will be sent to the women's shelter.

The next meeting was Jan. 8 at the Golden Corral. Wagon Masters for this dinner were Hank and Doris Otten.
