Spring walking clinics set return in March

The Women Run Arkansas' free 10-week spring clinics are returning in March. This year, the organization is offering two options for those interested in attending the free clinic.

The first clinic begins on March 2 and will meet at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays at Bella Vista Lake, in the Veterans Memorial parking lot. The second clinic begins on March 2 and will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays at Loch Lomond Sports Park in the pavilion on Glasgow Road.

The clinics will have four distinct walking groups at both locations. Walkers can join one-mile, two-mile, three-mile or health-challenged groups. The health-challenged walkers will cover up to a mile at individualized paces. The organization doesn't offer a running clinic this year, but interested runners are encouraged to join a Bentonville running group.

Attendance awards will be presented for both 100-percent attendance and those missing only one day, excluding weather cancellations. During the final day in May all walkers will be invited to walk together at Bella Vista Lake.

To sign up online, go to www.womenrunarkansas.net or stop by a walker's registration event from 2-4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, at Village Insurance Community Room, 2838 Bella Vista Way. Walkers may also sign up during the first day of clinics if they arrive 15 minutes early, but are encouraged to sign up in advance in effort to begin clinics on time.
