New contract OK'd for Bailey

At last week's Property Owners Association board meeting, Chairman Charlie Teal reported on an executive session held on Jan. 20.

At that time, the board and the general manager signed an employment contract that Teal called "a traditional employment agreement."

The contract decreased the base salary of the general manager.

It was about a 10-percent decrease, General Manager Tommy Bailey confirmed after the meeting. His new base salary is $120,000 annually.

'There is a group of people in the community who think I make way too much money and the board wanted to address that especially considering that we're in a tight place and trying to get an assessment increase," he said. He agreed to the decrease in order to help get an assessment increase passed.

Teal said, after the meeting, that other benefits were not raised to compensate for the decrease in salary.

"The board believes this revised employment agreement is fair-minded and in the best interest of the members," Teal said.
