First United Methodist

Ash Wednesday services will be at 11:45 a.m. followed by a Lenten luncheon prepared by the office staff and open to everyone at First United Methodist Church. There will also be a 6 p.m. service that evening. An 11:45 a.m. service followed by a luncheon prepared by the different circles will be held each Wednesday until Easter.

Prayer service is held every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel. All are welcome.

Youth Life meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. for junior and senior high school students.

Associate Pastor Rev. Zack Underwood continues the Bible study of the Old Testament utilizing material from Dr. Sandra Richter, Epic of Eden. The class meets Thursday at noon. Those attending are welcome to bring a lunch.

Sunday, Feb. 22, Brother Jaimie Alexander will begin a new sermon series "What a Difference a Day Makes" with "The Temptation of His Life," from Matthew 4:1-11, Romans 5:12-19.

Traditional services are held every Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with a contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school classes for all ages are also held at 9:30 a.m. Nursery is provided.

Caregivers Support Group meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 9 a.m. The group provides an essential support system for those who are primary caregivers of family or friend.

Two weekly meetings of AA are hosted at the church Saturday and Monday. Call or stop by the church for more information.

A single-men's fellowship group meets the third Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in Becker Hall. The memories associated with any loss and the problems of adjusting to life as a single person may be expressed in the supportive setting of a group of individuals who have all had similar experiences. "Living the Lord's Prayer," a Bible study taught by Rev. Albert Fisher, will examine each familiar phrase of the Lord's Prayer, allowing the reader to uncover a profound framework for spiritual growth and a meaningful Christian life. The class began in mid-February and meets Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and will run for several weeks.

Presbyterian Church

The season of Lent will begin with an Ash Wednesday communion service at noon at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista. Weekly Lenten soup suppers will begin the next week Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in fellowship hall. Signup for the soup suppers at the information center. The cost is $3 per person for a simple meal of soup and bread. Everyone is asked to bring a can of soup to each soup supper to share with the hungry through distribution by the Helping Hands Food Pantry. Visitors are welcome.

An Adult Study Group led by the Rev. Liz Wagner will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the parlor.

A six-week Lenten study, "What Wondrous Love," will begin Thursday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. and continue weekly through March 26. This study, also led by Wagner, is a presentation of the story of Holy Week. Study books are $5 each. Sign up at the information center.

Men's Fellowship will meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the fellowship hall, followed by Darrell Bowman, lake ecologist and fisheries manager, presenting a program. The cost is $3 plus a canned food item. Sign up at the information center

The community is invited to a traditional worship service Sunday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. This Sunday and the fourth Sunday of each month food items are collected for the Helping Hands Food Pantry. The requested item is powdered or canned milk and bottled fruit juice drinks. Any food item or monetary donation can be left at the table in connector hallway. All are welcome.

An exercise group meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 to 8:45 a.m. in fellowship hall. It is low-impact exercise for seniors with 20 minutes of walking. There is no charge and the community is invited.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County

Sunday, Feb. 22, Lauren Galle, who grew up in Saudi Arabia and has done course work on a doctorate in Middle Eastern history, will give the UU Learn talk on Islam.

Coffee and social time begins at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday service begins at 11 a.m. Sunday school is available for children through age 15.

Lenten season begins Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. with a light supper preceding the Ash Wednesday service at Bella Vista Lutheran Church. This schedule will be repeated each Wednesday prior to Easter Sunday, April 5.

Sunday morning worship is at 8:30 a.m. for the traditional service and at 10:45 a.m. for the blended service. Sunday school for all children and adult Bible classes are at 9:45 a.m.

The Tan and Jam Adult Sunday School Class meets every Sunday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Visitors are welcome.

An Ash Wednesday service will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18. On the remaining five Wednesday's of Lent a brown-bag soup supper will be offered. Each week the soup will tie in with a specific Bible character. Visitors are always welcome to attend.

The next HUMMERS blood drive is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.Wednesday, Feb. 25.

A new seven-week Lenten Bible study, "The God We Can Know" by Rob Fuquay, will be held from Feb. 25 through April 8. Classes will be offered from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Sign-up sheets are located on the education table. Everyone is welcome to attend.

New Wine Ministry

The Rev. Vincent Xavier leads the New Wine Ministry in services on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. Rosalie and Gary Jennings lead the worship on Sundays at 2 p.m.

New Wine Ministry and United Christian Charities distribute food from the Food Pantry in Decatur every Monday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. Over 35,000 people have been fed from the food pantry. Unity Church of the Ozarks

Wednesday Night Class and Meditation is held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday at the church. Feb. 11 will be a gong session meditation with Larry Owensby. These classes are filled with vibrant and meaningful discussions on the issues of life from a metaphysical point of view. A quiet meditation follows the class. All are welcome.

The Rev. Edie Skalitzky will present "Where Knowledge Ends, Faith Begins," Sunday, Feb. 22. Following the service Skalitzky will offer a brown-bag-lunch workshop Sunday titled "Rediscovering the Angels" from 12:15-2 p.m. The lunch is on a love offering basis.

The monthly potluck and cinema follows the service Sunday, Feb. 22. "The Great Year" by Walter Cruttenden and James Earl Jones is based on the premise that the movement of the stars guided the rise and fall of human civilization. All are welcome to the meal and the movie.

Beginning in March, Sunday morning class at 9 a.m. will resume. The group will discuss the book "Discover the Power Within You" by Eric Butterworth. The book offers an opportunity to learn more about Unity teachings.

Bella Vista Baptist

A Wednesday evening meal takes place from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Bella Vista Baptist Church followed by a prayer meeting at 5:45 p.m. in the old sanctuary. Children's choirs practice at 5:30 p.m., youth activities are at 6 p.m. and AWANA is at 6:15.

Women's Bible study on the book of Nehemiah began Tuesday and Thursday the week of Feb 3. The way the study is structured allows one to join the group at any time, even if the first was missed. Those attending may also switch back and forth between the morning and evening study. The Tuesday group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the Thursday group meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Both sessions meet in the fellowship hall.

The Men's Prayer Breakfast is held every Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. They are studying the Book of Joshua.

The Senior Adult Ministries hosts ice cream and a movie the fourth Friday of the month at 6 p.m. All adults are welcome.

Women On Mission meets at 9 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month in fellowship hall.

Threads of Love will meet at 9:30 a.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in room 143B.

Community Church

Memory Disorder Caregivers support group meets today at 1 p.m. in the parlor.

Wednesday Night family activities begin at 6 p.m. with a pizza dinner. Bible study for all ages takes place at 6:30 p.m. A nursery is provided.

Women's Bible study began a series Feb. 12 on "The God I Never Knew" by Robert Morris. The study group continues to meet each Thursday. Call the church to sign up for the morning class at 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or evening class at 6 to 8 p.m. Cost of the book is $7.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets Thursday, Feb. 19, at 3:30 p.m. in McKay Hall.

Cups & Croissants will gather Saturday, Jan. 21, at 9 a.m. in McKay Hall and will be featuring "mystery personalities!"

Coffee fellowship is offered at 9 a.m. Sunday with the worship service starting at 9:30. A staffed nursery and Children's Teaching Time for ages 4-12 years are available during the worship service. Adult Sunday school is from 8 to 9 a.m.

Village Bible Evangelical Free

Wednesday, Feb. 18, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Also Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. a fellowship meal takes place. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a dish to share. Wednesday evening devotional and prayer is at 6:20 p.m. Activities for children and youth are offered after supper on Wednesdays as well. Nursery is available.

Bible study for mixed adults is held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. They are currently studying the book of Romans. Small groups meet in homes for Bible study and fellowship throughout the week.

The Rev. Ron Morris will continue the Bible study on Romans at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12.

Sunday school classes will be available for all ages at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, followed by the 10 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Mark Voll will continue his sermon series titled "The Building Blocks of a Great Church." His sermon title will be "The Building Blocks of a Great Church," with a sermon titled "Authentic Fellowship" and a text of Acts 2:42-47 and Philippians 2:1-5. Infant nursery and children's church will be available during the worship service.

Volunteers work at the church on Mondays at 10 a.m. setting up the bags of donated items from the food pantry for distribution.

Also Tuesday, the ladies' KniTTogether ministry and the White Cross EFCA Women's Mission ministry will also meet at 7 p.m. to produce hats and scarves for those in need and to produce cloth bandages and other supplies for Tandala hospital in Congo, Africa, and to enjoy fellowship as they work.
