Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista

The community is invited to worship with us for a traditional worship service on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. We always welcome new friends.

The monthly Book Club will resume on Thursday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m. in the parlor. The topic will be one book read since the last meeting in May. All are welcome. Call 479-876-2547 for more information.

On Friday, Aug. 28, the Ladies Birthday Luncheon group will meet at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate those having a birthday during this month. Please sign up at the Information Center to learn the location of this month's luncheon.

All church women are invited to attend the Cluster 1 Fall gathering in Rogers on Saturday, Sept. 12. A sign-up sheet is located at the Information Center. A car pool will leave from the church at 8:30 a.m. A registration fee of $10 will include lunch.

The church is located at 1880 Forest Hills Blvd. Sunday Worship Service is held at 10 a.m. Adult and Children's Sunday School both meet at 8:30 a.m. All are welcome. Village Baptist Church

Rev. Lowell Snow will bring the message Sunday, Aug. 30, at 10:15 a.m.

Evening service starts at 5 p.m. This Sunday, there will be Fifth Sunday Singing.

Men's Prayer and Bible Study in Matthew meet each Friday morning from 8 to 10 a.m.

The items need for Operation: Christmas Child during the month of August are school supplies. For September, the items needed are Ivory soap and washcloths.

Village Baptist, a Southern Baptist Church, is located at 380 Glasgow Rd. in the Highlands of Bella Vista. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9 a.m with nursery provided. Sunday evening service starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening choir practice begins at 5:45 p.m and is followed by prayer and Bible Study at 7 p.m.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County

The Unitarian Universalists of Benton County have relocated to 1110 SE Evergreen St. (Little Einstein Montessori School) in Bentonville near the southeast corner of 14th and J Streets. The Sunday service, which begins at 11 a.m., is preceded by coffee and social time beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday, Aug. 30, the fellowship will gather at the Kingsdale Pavillion in Bella Vista at 11 a.m. for a potluck and pool party.

Sunday School is available for children through age 15. A Unitarian Universalist adaptation of Jerome Berryman's book, "Spirit Play", is the primary resource. We structure the morning based on the Montessori approach. As in Montessori, the key elements are the classroom environment and the teachers. These elements free the children to work at their own pace on their own activities after an initial lesson.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. "Each One -- Bring One" is asking for donations of egg noodles, sugar-free gelatin, box cereals, size 3-5 diapers and bar soap. The food pantry has really been busy during the summer months. During the month of July, 28 new families were helped and a record-breaking 838 family members had been served. Your help is greatly appreciated. A shopping cart for your donations is in the new Fellowship Hall entry. Monetary donations are always welcome.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church will be working at Helping Hands on Sept. 5. They are always in need of additional workers and ask if you could spare at least 4 hours a week. They were able to help approximately 4,780 people in June.

On Aug. 30th there will only be one worship service. The Unity Service will be at 9:30 a.m., and there will be no Sunday School or Adult Bible classes that Sunday.

Forest Hills Church

Forest Hills Church welcomes people of all faiths to attend this coming Sunday's worship service at 10:45 a.m. A casual drop-in coffee and sweets fellowship begins at 9 a.m., followed by an adult Bible study at 9:45 a.m. Every Wednesday noon is a sack lunch Bible study and prayer meeting. These studies are open for everyone in the community.

Unity Church of the Ozarks

Sunday, Aug. 30, the monthly potluck takes place after the 10:30 a.m. service. Bring a dish or food item. We typically have about 50 people, so plan on staying for a healthy meal and great conversation.

Wednesday Night Class and Meditation is held at the church center from 7 to 8:30 p.m and is open to anyone who would like to have more time exploring life from different perspectives with the basis being Unity metaphysical way of thinking. This month's subject is "What is the mystical path, and what does it mean to journey on it?"

Saturday QiGong Classes, led by Rick Blough from Unity Fayetteville, meet 9 a.m. at the Unity Church. Afterwards, stay for complimentary hands-on-healing session.

A blood pressure clinic will be in the nurse's office on Sunday, Sept. 6, from 8:45-9:15 a.m. and 10:30-11 a.m.

Highlands Church

Covenant Bible Study by Kay Arthur will begin with an introductory session on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 9 a.m. The regular classes will begin on Sept. 15 and will run for eight weeks. Classes will be on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 9 a.m.

A 12-week study of the Old Testament will begin Sept. 1 and 2 and will be offered Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m.

Flex 'n Stretch classes begin Sept. 7. The cost is $45 per 10-week session. Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Choir practice will resume on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 30th, Sunday school begins at 9 a.m. Worship Service with Open Communion starts at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Paul Seal will be speaking on "No Creed but Christ" from John 20:24-31.

The first meeting of Adante Music Club's season will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 12:30 p.m. They will present "Paul Healy and the Skunk Hollow Band", who perform a variety of music. This meeting is open to the public.

Methodist Church

Sunday morning worship services are now available on AT&T U-verse on channel 99 and Cox Cable channel 222.

Sunday, Aug. 30, Senior Pastor Jaimie J. Alexander will continue the sermon series "The Game: Deadly Sins vs. Heavenly Virtues" with Envy vs. Kindness. The scriptures are Genesis 37:14-24 and Romans 5:6-8.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m., Discipline and Discovery, a new Small Group 10-week study facilitated by Rev. Albert Fisher, seeks to provide spiritual growth opportunities so that individuals may be empowered in the awareness of God's gifts through Jesus Christ. Cost of this study is $5 to cover the cost of two books, Discipline and Discovery and Discipline and Discovery Workbook.

Prayer Meeting is every Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the chapel. Take time out of your busy weekly schedule to worship with us.

Two weekly meetings of AA are being hosted at the church on Saturday and Monday. Please call or stop by the church for more information.

Traditional services are held every Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., with a contemporary service a 9:30 a.m. Sunday school classes for all ages are also held at 9:30 am. Nursery is provided.

The Wednesday Evening Meal will be held from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting is held at 5:45 p.m. in the old sanctuary. Children's Choirs meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays followed by AWANA from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

WOM meets at 9 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the fellowship hall.

Our Men's Prayer Breakfast takes place every Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. They are studying the Book of 2nd Peter.

Threads of Love meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in Room 143B.

The Senior Adult Ministries hosts Ice Cream and a Movie the fourth Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All adults are welcome.

Evangelical Church

Wednesday, Aug. 26, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries. A potluck fellowship dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the community is always welcome. The dinner is followed at 6:20 p.m. by singing, devotions and prayer for adults with activities also held for children. Nursery for infants and toddlers is available, and the community is invited.

Thursday, Aug. 27, a Bible study in the book of Jeremiah meets at the church at 6:30 p.m. Men and women in the community are welcome, and newcomers may come at any time.

Sunday, Aug. 30, Sunday school classes are offered for all ages at 9 a.m. followed by the 10 a.m. Worship Service, and the community is welcomed. Pastor Mark Voll will continue his sermon series titled "Make Your Move." This week's focus is "It's Your Move: Be a Kingdom Builder," with a text of Colossians 4:7-18. Infant and toddler nursery and Children's Church for kids are offered as well.

Community Church

Bella Vista Community Church is an Interdenominational Stephen Ministry church located at 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The worship service is at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning with coffee fellowship before and after the service. Dr. Jeff Reed will be preaching the next two Sundays, followed by Dr. Anna Teel. A staffed nursery is available, as well as Children's Teaching Time for ages 4-12 during the worship service. Adult Sunday School meets from 8 to 9 a.m. downstairs. Their new study is "Bible Prophecy and the End Times."

Free blood pressure checks are available each Wednesday in the nurse's office from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This service is also available the last Sunday of each month at 9 a.m. in the Parlor. This is open to the community.

Hope Happens Here cancer support group meets Thursday, Aug. 27, at 3:30 p.m. in the Parlor.

Note that the Caregivers Support Group, Prostate Cancer Support Group, and Diabetes Support Group do not meet during the summer months (June -- August).

Christian Church

Sunday services are held at Bella Vista Christian Church at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. "Focus" is the title of the current message series on Aug. 30. KidTown Worship for children birth -- 5th grade is open at both services.

The Student Ministry Wednesday Night Fall Kick-off will be held on Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. (Campus Café opens at 5 p.m.) All sixth-12th graders are invited.

St. Theodore's

Episcopal Church

St. Theodore's has Sunday services at 8 and 10:30 AM. Children's Sunday School classes will start for the school year on Sunday Aug. 23, at 9:15 a.m.

There are also three different Sunday School classes for adults, which start at 9:30 a.m. In addition, there is a Brown Bag Bible Study at noon every Tuesday. Childcare services are available from 9:15 to 11:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings, to accommodate worshippers with younger children. Children's Chapel is held from 10:30 to 11:15, for younger school age children during the 10:30 adult service.

In addition the annual church picnic will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 (St. Theodore's birthday) at the Riordan Pavilion.

St. Theodore's parishioners will be volunteering at Helping Hands on Saturday, Sept. 26.
