Help Expand Our View

B'Creative Stitchers:

This fun group of needleworkers includes any and all handwork such as cross stitching, embroidery, quilting, knitting, weaving and crocheting. The B'Creative Stitchers meet every Monday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. The next meeting will be Monday, April 20.

Swon Brothers

This free concert, sponsored by Mach 1 Financial, will help raise funds for the Bella Vista Library expansion. Charitable donations will be taken at the door for the Bella Vista Library Foundation. The concert will be April 17 with the doors opening 5:30 p.m. and the concert at 6 p.m. To reserve a free ticket: Go to www.mach-1financial.com; click on the "Events" tab; click on "Springfest with the Swon Brothers"; fill out the registration forms and click "Register Now" at the bottom.

Friends of the Library book sale

Spring into savings as Encore Books will be slashing the prices of its entire stock for one week only. Come by the bookstore from April 20-25 to take part in these great savings. Every book in the store will be 50 percent off. Categories include fiction, nonfiction, classics, cookbooks, religion, paperbacks, children's and signed and rare books.

Bella Vista Library Book Club

The Bella Vista Library Book Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22. This lively group of readers always has a blast. April's book is Joe Hill by Wallace Stegner.

Coupon Club of NWA

The Coupon Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22. This group always finds the best deals and great coupons. Come by and join in on the fun.

Teen Thursday night

The library has a teen night every third Thursday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. This month participants will be watching Guardians of the Galaxy, a PG-13 movies for ages 13-18. The meeting will be April 16.

Bella Vista Hearing Center

The Bella Vista Hearing Center will be hosting a monthly seminar providing information on hearing loss and preventative measures. April's meeting will discuss vertigo, dizziness, and hearing loss. This month there is a door prize of a $25 gift certificate to a NWA restaurant up for grabs for those in attendance. The seminar will be at 2 p.m. April 16.

Mystery Book Club

Fans of all types of mystery/crime/suspense novels are invited to join this exciting book club. The Mystery Book Club meets the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. (right after Brainteasers). The next meeting is today. This month the club is reading books by Agatha Christie and Nevada Barr.

Homeschoolers' Corner

Homeschoolers ages 9-18 and adults are invited to attend Homeschoolers' Corner on the first Tuesday of every month at 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn how to draw as well as exchange ideas with other homeschoolers at this free program. Supplies will be provided. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 5.

Sci-fi Book Club

Lovers of Science Fiction are invited to join the Sci-Fi Book Club. This month's book is The Truth Machine by James Halperin. Sci-Fi book club meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month and the next meeting will be tonight.

Teen blog

The library has a new blog just for teens and is looking forward to expanding that department with new books and activities. To keep up-to-date with all the changes to the direction the teen department is going check out www.bvplteens.weebly.com.

Preschool Storytime

Preschoolers are invited to join this fun group for stories and crafts at 10 a.m. every Friday morning. Be sure to come to storytime this week to listen to a good story with Miss Kassie from Trike Theatre.

Knitters and Crocheters

Knitter and crocheter wannabes are invited to brush up on their skills and learn some new techniques from 1 to 3 p.m. every Tuesday. Novices will be guided by experienced knitters and crocheters. Participants may bring their current projects or start a new one. Attendees must bring their own supplies.

Brainteasers

The library hosts this fun and challenging event on the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is from 3 to 4 p.m. today. Brainteaser packets are available at the front desk.

Check out a Kindle

Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with a specific genre of book (sci-fi, bestseller nonfiction, western, inspirational, etc.) and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each device every month. See library staff members for the check-out agreement and procedure.

E-reader training

Anyone who received an e-reader and is not quite sure how to get started may come by the Bella Vista Public Library for help. E-book training will be available every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Call the library at 479-855-1753 to schedule an appointment with Myrna, who will answer questions and teach about e-readers.

Exhibits

April's exhibits include photography from the Bella Vista Photography Club. Pearl Williamson provided the display in the back cases. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Rebecca at 479-855-1753.

Encore Books!

The Friends of the Library's used bookstore is open six days a week during regular library hours. The store offers everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children's books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and much more. All proceeds from this ongoing fundraiser support the library. New books are added almost daily.

Floral Arrangement

April's arrangement was designed and provided by Linda Dahlquist. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patrons' enjoyment.

Hours of operation

Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with late evening hours until 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
