Village Quick Lube has a new face and a new name. Robbie Ryan bought the business from Ron and Karen Singleton a few weeks ago. The shop opened March 23 under its new name, A1 Auto Service & Repair.

"We offer the same services as (the Singletons) and a whole lot more," Ryan said, who's overseen service departments for the last 14 years. "From transmission work to cabin filters -- we're an auto repair and service facility that likes to educate customers so they can make an informed decision about automobile repair."

A1 Auto is located at 402 Town Center NE and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Ryan estimates that between himself and two employees, including a "full-blown" mechanic, there's nearly 50 years worth of service experience. Ryan has worked at dealerships, auto service shops and served in a managerial role.

A Rogers native, Ryan graduated from Rogers High School in 1988. He worked in the auto service industry while going to college part time. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1999.

"I'm a firm believer in word-of-mouth," Ryan said. "You can advertise and do all the specials you want, but that rarely produces customers. What does is when somebody asks 'where would you take your car?'"

The Singletons bought the property for Village Quick Lube in the late 1990s. Ron built the building and operated it for 16 years.

"It's the cleanest shop I've ever been in," Ryan said. "Ron started everything."

Plans are in motion for a belated grand opening later this spring, Ryan said. It will be on a Saturday, and residents are welcome to come by for burgers, hot dogs and refreshments. They'll also get to see the shop up close, Ryan said.
