Letter to the Editor

Cotton showed

a lot of courage

I read your column about U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton with interest. I am not a Republican or a Democrat but I did contribute to Sen. Cotton's campaign for Senator. I am a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and Sen. Cotton's military service attracted me to his campaign along with his integrity and honesty.

As far as I know Sen. Cotton has not lied to me once. President Obama on the other hand has lied to me many times. The man is petty and small minded.

Trust, lack of it to be specific, is the reason, in my opinion why these 47 Senators signed and sent the letter to Iran. Why this lack of trust? In his six years as the President, he has shown a penchant for not compromising on any issue, leaving out or misleading Congress on many issues, has issued Executive Orders contrary to our Constitution and is still blaming Bush and the Republicans for his failures.

I ask myself this question, do I trust Barack Obama to do what is right for America? The answer is a resounding No. I am 71 years old and have followed American politics all my life, I have disagreed with many Presidents and have agreed with some. I consider Nixon and Carter to be the worst Presidents in my lifetime, but still I trusted them to do the right thing for America. I cannot say that for Barack Obama.

It is for these reasons that I totally agree with Sen. Cotton's letter. Tom Cotton took a real political risk for his actions and I believe that history will judge him well. I am reminded of JFK's book "Profiles in Courage" and I hope and pray that this country will elect more Tom Cotton's.
