The Meadows offers family-quality care

The Meadows Independent and Assisted Living is a family-owned community that provides private apartments, 24-hour staff, daily activities, transportation and assistance with a variety of daily living needs.

It is a Level II assisted-living community.

Dr. Warren and Gladys Bathke wanted to build a place where "the greatest generation" would be honored and nurtured. Warren watches his dream mature daily from his residence at The Meadows, although Gladys passed away about two years ago.

The facility mission statement -- "Our family caring for your family with honor, dignity and respect" -- is true, as the founders' daughter and granddaughter are involved with daily operations.

Available to anyone 55 or older, The Meadows has 64 rental apartments, or suites. Each has modern kitchen appliances, window treatments, carpet and individual climate controls, along with a choice of studio, one or two bedrooms.

The monthly activity calendar at The Meadows is packed consistently with outings, group activities and social events. Bingo, Wii games, shuffleboard, movies and popcorn, balloon volleyball and crafts are a few examples of planned activities. Exercise is offered four times a week in mid-morning, and shopping trips are taken weekly.

In addition to independent and assisted living, The Meadows also has a licensed Alzheimer's unit. This specialized wing offers additional structure and safety features for residents with progressed dementia or Alzheimer's. Residents are offered the best quality of life within a secure, homelike environment. The 10-unit, private-apartment wing has a patio, dining room, activity area and family room, as well as a high staff-to-resident ratio.
