Kansas Sunflower Club

The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, for a pizza luncheon in the Village Insurance Community Room.

Pizza will be ordered after arrival. Members are asked to bring a small salad or dessert to share. Charles Learned will lead the group in a sing-along after the meal.

All former Kansas residents are invited to join in club meetings. There are no dues.

NWA Genealogical Society

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main. Kathleen H. Cande, professional archaeologist, will give a presentation about Davidsonville, the first county seat in Arkansas. She will discuss the dig, things that have been found and how the town would have been constructed. The public is welcome. Call 479-271-6820 for further information.

Iowa Club

A pork roast is planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Kingsdale Pavilion. Drinks will be furnished. The cost is $11.50 per person. Make checks payable to Linda Ervin and send them to 1 Highlands Crossing Drive, No. 216, Bella Vista, AR 72715 by Oct. 2.

Garden Club

The monthly meeting will take place Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road. A social gathering will start at 11 a.m. and will be followed by the meeting at 11:30 a.m. and then a light lunch.

The program will be a virtual tour of the club's newly revamped website, given by Sue Jacobson and members of the website committee. In addition, club member Janice Kennedy will share "Gardening Tips and Tricks."

Beta Sigma Phi

The Laureate Alpha Gamma chapter of Beta Sigma Phi had its first meeting of the 2014-15 year on Sept. 10. The meeting was held in the home of Jan Vogel with Annette Allsup serving as co-hostess. It was announced that Rene Bladon is recuperating at Highland Health Care and Rehab, where she is receiving physical therapy following knee surgery.

Plans were made to attend the Fall Tea, which will be held Oct. 24 at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church. Members also learned that the chapter will meet for an evening out with spouses or friends at Haven 55 in October. The date will be finalized at a later time.

The annual Service Project will be a monetary donation to Cooper Elementary School. In addition, at the next meeting, members will bring nonperishable food items to be given to the Bella Vista Food Bank. That meeting will be held Oct. 8 in Pat Zornes' home with Ricki Landowski as co-hostess. Lori Langley will present a program.

Kingsdale Squares

The Squares will not dance Sept. 22. The group usually meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at Riordan Hall. Call 479-876-8432 to learn more.

Nebraska Club

All Nebraskans are invited to don their Husker colors and come to the annual Big Red Tailgate at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Loch Lomond Pavilion.

Following a social hour, a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, fresh fruit and coffee will be served. The cost of the meal is $8 per adult and $4 for children ages 5-12.
