Methodist

Disciple III begins today, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the chapel at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, and will continue for 32 weeks. Anyone interested should contact the office.

A prayer service is held at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday in the chapel. Junior and senior high students can participate in Youth Life at 7 p.m.

Alan Packard will begin a 30-week Bible study on "Jesus in the Gospels" Friday, Sept. 19, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Contact the office for further information.

Recess Special Needs family night is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, in Becker Hall and on the lower level.

The Rev. Jaimie Alexander will continue the sermon series, "Christ's Ice Bucket Challenge," on Sunday, Sept. 21. The message is titled "The Challenge Not to Judge" and comes from Matthew 7:1-6. Traditional services are held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with a contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school classes for all ages are also held at 9:30. A nursery is provided.

Sept. 21 is Music Appreciation Sunday. The Chancel Bells will play during the traditional services. At 2 p.m., the Wesley Series presents David White, tenor, and Broc Hite, pianist, in a concert of "British Rarities." At 3 p.m., the Bella Vista Community Concert Band will give its final performance of the season in Becker Hall.

The Bella Vista United Methodist churches' 12th annual golf challenge will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Kingswood Golf Course for those who preregistered. Members of First United Methodist and Highlands Church will meet for an afternoon of golf, fellowship and food. An awards dinner immediately follows the tournament, at approximately 5:30 p.m., at the Riordan Pavilion. Sign-up ended Sept. 14.

Moving Forward, a fellowship group for single men, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Becker Hall. The memories associated with any loss and the problems of adjusting to life as a single person are expressed in the supportive setting of a group of individuals who have all had similar experiences. United Methodist Women's quarterly luncheon begins with quiet time at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in Becker Hall. The program will be presented by Sharon Sunderman, schedule coordinator for the Bella Vista Courtesy Van. The menu will consist of lasagna, salad, garlic bread and a light dessert. Price for the lunch is $7. Reservations need to be turned into members' respective circles or Sue Nebrig by Sunday, Sept. 21.

The Rev. Zach Underwood and his wife, Kerry, will begin a new class, "Discovering a Deeper Intimacy with God Through Your Marriage," at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28. Anyone interested should call the church office.

United Methodist Women's holiday bazaar will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. Thursday workshops will continue from until Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Quilt Room. Volunteers can come anytime and stay for as long as they wish. Snacks will be available, and attendees may bring a sack lunch. No particular talent is required; however, sewers are greatly appreciated.

Fisher leads an adult Bible study on "Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home," based on the book by Richard Foster, at 4 p.m. Tuesdays in the chapel. The cost is $20 for a copy of Foster's book.

The Caregivers Support Group provides an essential support system for those who are primary caregivers of family or friends. This group meets at 9 a.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.

Presbyterian Church

The Bell and Chime Choir has resumed practice at 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays and the Chancel Choir began meeting again at 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista. Because of the staggered meeting times, one can participate in both choirs. New members are always welcome.

An Adult Study Group is assembling and will be led by the Rev. Liz Wagner. The first meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18. All are welcome.

The church will be participating in the Alzheimer's Memory Walk set for Saturday, Sept. 20, at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. Sign up to walk or make a donation.

The Missions Committee is collecting personal care items for the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter to be given to the children as they leave the facility. A list of items needed for the packets and a donation box are available in the connector hallway. Monetary contributions would also be appreciated to help purchase supplies.

An exercise class meets from 8 to 8:45 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the fellowship hall. It is free of charge and open to the community.

Sept. 21 is Topic Forum Sunday. Michelle Harvey will present "Making Our Future a Reality." She leads the Environmental Defense Fund's on-site corporate partnership with Walmart in Bentonville, advancing sustainable business practices throughout the company's operations and supply chain, and is on the UUBC Advisory Board.

Each Sunday service begins with an all-inclusive opening and ends with a traditional closing. The program usually lasts 30-40 minutes. Coffee and social time starts at 10:30 a.m. and the program is at 11 a.m. Sunday school is available for children through age 15.

Evangelical Free

Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Also Wednesday, the Building Committee will meet at 4 p.m. and the Women's Ministry Board will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting. The family potluck dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the family praise and prayer fellowship plus children's and youth activities at 6:20 p.m. Choir rehearsal begins at 7:30 p.m., and Worship team practice is at 8 p.m.

Ron Morris will lead the Bible study on 2 Peter at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. This study is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Men's Breakfast Fellowship is scheduled for 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. The Church Board will convene at 8:30 a.m.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, the church will host a Missions Event featuring seven of the missions it supports. After the missionary presentations, there will be opportunities to interact with them and browse display tables they have set up. Coffee and dessert will be served.

The youth and adult classes will meet together in the sanctuary for a panel discussion and question-and-answer time with all the missionaries attending the Missions Event. New Wine Ministry

The "Feast of Tabernacles" will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 8-16 at the Northwest Arkansas Ministry Center, 2262 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista, and at 10 a.m. Oct. 9-16 under the tent at the ARK, 8030 LaCroix Road in Decatur.
