Village Baptist

Wednesday evening choir practice starts at 5:45 at Village Baptist Church and is followed by prayer and Bible study at 7 p.m.

First United

Methodist

United Methodist Women's holiday bazaar will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista. Holiday decorations and gifts, plants and garden accessories, dignified discards, books, baked items and gift baskets will be for sale. Homemade cinnamon and orange rolls will be available at 8:30 a.m. and a luncheon will be served after 10:30 a.m. A debit and credit card machine will be available for purchases. Proceeds support local charities.

The sermon for Sunday, Oct. 5, will be "Christ's Ice Bucket Challenge: The Challenge to be Fair," based on Matthew 7:7-12. Traditional services are held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with a contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school classes for all ages are also held at 9:30. A nursery is provided.

United Methodist Men's dinner meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Becker Hall. The meal will be sliced brisket, potato salad and coleslaw from Papa Mike's at Kingsdale. The program will be presented by the Police and Fire departments.

Friday Nite at Sunday School, a registration event, is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 10. All parents and children are asked to attend so the church can update its new registration system and begin the volunteer sign-up process. United Methodist Men's Pancake Day will be from 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17. Pancakes, ham or sausage, applesauce and drink will be served. Tickets can be purchased for $6 per person from any UMM member, in the church office or at the door on Pancake Day. Proceeds support UMM ministries.

The Rev. Albert Fisher leads an adult Bible study on "Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home," based on the book by Richard Foster, at 4 p.m. Tuesdays in the chapel. The cost is $20 for a copy of Foster's book.

The 32-week Disciple III classes meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the chapel.

Alan Packard teaches a Bible study on "Jesus in the Gospels" from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Fridays.

Moving Forward, a fellowship group for single men, meets at 11:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in Becker Hall. The memories associated with any loss and the problems of adjusting to life as a single person are expressed in the supportive setting of a group of individuals who have all had similar experiences. The Men's Study Group meets at 8 a.m. every Wednesday in the parlor at Bella Vista Community Church.

Wednesday Night Family Activities start at 6 p.m. with pizza, followed at 6:30 by Prayers to My King Bible study for all ages. A nursery is provided.

The women's fall Bible study started Sept. 18, but anyone interested can still join in by coming to the third class on Thursday, Oct. 2. The seven-week study is based on the "Faithful Abundant True" series by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore. Cost of the book is $15. Sessions will be held Thursdays at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. downstairs through Oct. 30.

Growing Through Grief support group meets at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the parlor.

The Rev. Eric Sloter will preach at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services Sunday, Oct. 5. His sermon topic will be "Set Free by Christ's Cross" from Galatians 5:1. Village Bible

Evangelical Free

Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Also Wednesday, the Building Committee will meet at 4 p.m. and the Church Services Board will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting. The family potluck dinner also begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by family praise and prayer fellowship plus children's and youth activities at 6:20 p.m. Choir rehearsal begins at 7:30 p.m., and Worship team practice is at 8 p.m.

Ron Morris will lead the Bible study on 1 John at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the church. This study is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Volunteers will gather at the church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, to participate in Bella Vista Village's Sparkles litter cleanup on an assigned route.

Mark Voll will continue his preaching series on "Lessons for Life," studies in the Book of Hebrews. His sermon is "Perseverance" from Hebrews 6:7-20. Bella Vista Baptist Church offers morning and evening sessions of the "Children of the Day" ladies' Bible study every Tuesday. Meetings are from 9 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the conference room.

"Unleashed: Acts that Change the World" is the title of the fall message series during the 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday services. KidTown is offered at both times for children from infants through fifth grade, and Radiate Students for grades 6-12 meets at 10:45 a.m.

The Student Ministry for teen Life Groups meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sundays at the church. All students in grades 6-12 are welcome.

The Outreach Ministry will participate in two school fall carnivals -- Oct. 10 at R.E. Baker Elementary School in Bentonville and Oct. 24 at Cooper Elementary School in Bella Vista. Both events start at 5:30 p.m.

Presbyterian Church

"Doc" Irwin is presenting a class on "Old Testament History and Literature" each Wednesday through Nov. 26 at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista. Each session runs from 3 to 4 p.m. in Classroom C.

Presbyterian Women's Mission Sewing will meet in the fellowship hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2. Come for all or part of the day.

Members of the church will gather at Highlands Health Care and Rehabilitation Center at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, for a sing-along with the residents. All are welcome.

The Presbyterian Players will present "Olios: 2014" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, in the church's fellowship hall. The olios will feature singing, dancing, comedy and skits with light refreshments being served. The Missions Committee is collecting personal care items for the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter to be given to the children as they leave the facility. Roadside litter pickup along Arkansas 279 is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Many workers are needed.

The Abundant Life Praise service starts at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, and will be preceded by a light meal. All are welcome.

United in Prayer meets at 3 p.m. Mondays.

Catholic Church

The annual Women's Club bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at St. Bernard Catholic Church of Bella Vista. Parishioners are needed to help.
