Forest Hills Church

Guests are welcome to drop in for a sack lunch, prayer time and Bible study starting at noon Wednesdays at Forest Hills Church.

The Forest Hills Church community welcomes people of all faiths to its Sunday activities. A sweets and coffee fellowship starts at 9 a.m., two adult Bible studies begin at 9:45 and the worship service is at 10:45. The Rev. Susan Metcalf will preach on "A Work in Progress," based on Philippians 1:1-9, this Sunday, Aug. 3.

Highlands Church

A "Lord, Teach Us to Pray" weekend begins Saturday, Aug. 9, with a prayer workshop at 3 p.m. A second workshop will take place at noon Sunday. The weekend will conclude at 6 p.m. Sunday with Holy Communion and a healing service. All are invited.

The annual Homes Tour will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance or $12 the day of the event. Other activities at the church include a car show and an antiques and collectibles appraisal from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and an antiques and collectibles sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch will be for sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

GriefShare is a grief recovery support group where people can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. The group meets weekly and is looking to start a new session. The class is free to attend, and a person need not be a member of Highlands Church to participate. Anyone interested in attending should phone the church office at 479-855-2277.

Presbyterian Church

Members of the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista will gather for a sing-along at Highlands Health Care and Rehabilitation Center at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1. Everyone is welcome to join with the residents and participants.

Holy Communion will be served at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, Aug. 3.

The Chancel Choir is taking a break during the summer. Special music will be presented each Sunday until the choir returns Sept. 7.

An exercise class meets from 8 to 8:45 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the fellowship hall. It is free of charge and open to the community.

Village Baptist

The Rev. Bill Bowen will present the message at the 10:15 a.m. service Sunday, Aug. 3. Children's Church for ages 4 through sixth grade is offered with a puppet ministry during morning worship.

Bella Vista Baptist

Wednesday Night Meals will be served at 5:30 p.m. throughout July and August at Bella Vista Baptist Church.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County

Aug. 3 is Homily Sunday with "Start Small, Look for Great Things" by Sandi Wanasek. Wanasek's church career began in 1982 as the finance secretary at Central United Methodist Church. Later, she moved into church business administration, then began the march toward ordination as a deacon in 1998. She has served as the associate pastor at First United Methodist Church since 1999 and focuses primarily on pastoral care and spiritual formation.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County meets at the Elks Club, 501 S. 40th St., in Rogers. Sunday services begin with an all-inclusive opening and a traditional closing. Coffee and social time is at 10:30 a.m., and the program starts at 11 a.m. and usually lasts 30 to 40 minutes. Sunday school is available for children through age 15.

Methodist

A prayer service is offered at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday in the chapel at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista.

Junior and senior high school students participate in Youth Life at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

The Rev. Jaimie Alexander will continue the sermon series, "Cool Aid: First in My Heart! Spiritual Simplicity Refreshed," on Sunday, Aug. 3. The message is titled "Drink of the Cool Aid of Life" and is based on Philippians 4:4-7. Traditional services are held every Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with a contemporary service at 9:30. Sunday school classes for all ages are also held at 9:30 a.m. A nursery is provided.

United Methodist Women will sponsor a rummage sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. People are encouraged to drop off items at the church this week. Clothing will not be accepted.

"Supercharged," a communitywide back-to-school family celebration, is planned from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. The event will include: free hot dogs, drinks and watermelon; live music; games; prizes including a cruise and laptops; and free back-to-school haircuts. Two weekly meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous are being hosted at the church on Saturday and Monday. Call or stop by the church for details.

Bazaar workshops are held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Thursday in the downstairs quilt room. Snacks are available, and those planning to stay the day may bring a sack lunch. No particular talent is required, but those with sewing abilities are greatly appreciated.

Caregivers Support Group provides an essential support system for those who are primary caregivers of family or friends. The group meets at 9 a.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in room 5.

Moving Forward, a single men's fellowship group, will meet at 11:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in Becker Hall. Memories associated with any loss and the problems of adjusting to life as a single person are expressed in the supportive setting of a group of individuals who have all had similar experiences. Evangelical Free

Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Also Wednesday, the Building Committee will meet at 4 p.m. and the Women's Ministry Board will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting. The family potluck dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and is followed by family praise and prayer fellowship plus children's and youth activities at 6:20 p.m. Worship Team practice starts at 7:30 p.m.

The monthly Church Family Breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at Papa Mike's at Kingsdale in Bella Vista.

Ron Morris will lead the Bible study on 1 Peter at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. This study is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Volunteers will meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, to participate in the Bella Vista Property Owners Association's Sparkles litter cleanup on an assigned route.

Sunday school classes will be available for all ages at 9 a.m. Aug. 3, followed by the 10 a.m. worship service with Communion. The Rev. Mark Voll will continue his preaching series on "Truth and Consequences." The sermon is titled "Cain and Abel" and is based on Genesis 4. Community Church

Parish nurses conduct blood pressure checks from 9 a.m. until noon Wednesdays in the nurses' office and between services on the last Sunday of each month in the parlor at Bella Vista Community Church. There is no charge, and no appointment is necessary. This service is available to anyone in the community.

Prayer Fellowship meets at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in the conference room.

Wednesday Night Family Activities start at 6 p.m. with pizza, followed at 6:30 p.m. by PMK Bible study for all ages. A nursery is provided.

The Prostate Cancer and Diabetes support groups will not meet during July and August.

The Rev. Eric Sloter will preach at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services Sunday, Aug. 3. The chapel is open for prayer from 8 until 11:30 a.m. Children's Teaching Time for ages 4-12 is offered during the 10:15 a.m. service.

This Sunday is also "First Fruits Sunday" when the congregation brings food donations to church for delivery to local food banks.

Bella Vista Christian

Bella Vista Christian Church will "Bless the Backpacks" during both the 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday, Aug. 3. All children are welcome to bring their packs for a special time of blessing and prayer. KidTown is offered at both times for children from infants through fifth grade, and Radiate Students for grades 6-12 meets at 10:45 a.m.
