s 7 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to meet nature and wildlife photographer Silas Byers, who will show new work and some of his favorites at The ARC in Bella Vista, located in the historic two-story log cabin on U.S. 71 across from Lake Bella Vista. A native Arkansan, Byers has photographed throughout Arkansas and the world, traveling from the Straits of Alaska to the jungles of Africa to capture the majestic details of nature.

Saturday, July 26

s 2 to 9:30 p.m. The Bentonville High School Alumni Association will sponsor Sweet Jam 2014, a free community concert to benefit the association's BHS Scholarship Fund. Local bands and musicians will perform at Blowing Springs Park, 725 RV Park Road, in Bella Vista. Performers include The Dean's List, Restless Natives, Downtown Georgia Brown, Audrey Gilbreath and Mountain Shore. Everyone is invited and there is no charge to attend. s 2 p.m. Still on the Hill, an award-winning folk duo, will play "Once a River" songs at the Hobbs State Park visitor center in Rogers, located on U.S. 12 just east of its intersection with War Eagle Road. The free concert is part of a project to create awareness of Beaver Lake and its watershed. The duo will give away 100 CDs -- one per family -- on a first-come, first-served basis. s 8:30 p.m. "Frozen" will be shown during a free Movie Night at the Metfield Pavilion, 1 Hilltop Drive. The event is sponsored by the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association. Free drinks and popcorn will be available. Those who plan on attending should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. To reach the Metfield Pavilion, take U.S. 71 to Trafalgar Road, turn right on Commonwealth Road and take another right on Hilltop Drive.

Monday, July 28

s 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will conduct a blood drive at the Bella Vista Police Department, 105 Town Center. All negative blood types are especially needed. Each donation will be awarded LifePoints as a part of CBCO's donor rewards program. LifePoints may be redeemed online for a variety of gift cards, or points may be assigned to other meaningful causes or charities. More information on the program may be found at www.cbco.org.

s 7 p.m. Bella Vista Community Concert Band will perform a free concert in Blowing Springs Park. The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club will sell picnic suppers from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. with proceeds being donated to area nonprofit organizations. The park is located east of U.S. 71 on Dartmoor Road.

Saturday, Aug. 2

s 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. United Methodist Women's annual rummage sale will take place at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive. Something for everyone. Cinnamon rolls and lunch will be available. All proceeds support local charities.

Saturday, Aug. 16

s 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Highlands Church's 24th annual Homes Tour will feature five homes in Bella Vista. There also will be activities in the fellowship hall at the Church, 371 Glasgow Road, including the Highlands Cafe, where hot dogs, chips, dessert and drinks will be sold; an antique fair, where there will be antique sales as well as appraisals of antiques for a fee; and a free classic car show. In addition, there will be a raffle. At each home, chances can be purchased for $1 each or $5 for six. Each home will have a gift card valued at $200 for Lowe's, Allen's Foods, Pinnacle Promenade Shops including Best Buy and Target, Walmart and a Visa card. Advanced tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Bella Vista banks or from church members. Tickets are $12 on the day of the tour and may be purchased at the homes or the Highlands Gate. Saturday, Aug. 23

s 5 to 9 p.m. Granny's Quilts of Love invites the public to its annual dinner and auction in the cafeteria at Pea Ridge High School. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and the auction will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The meal includes pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, pickle, chips, homemade dessert and drink. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 per child with children 2 and under eating for free. The club will raffle off two prizes -- $1,000 cash and a Bosch dishwasher. Lancashire Blvd. A combination of secular, gospel and contemporary music will be presented under the direction of Bill Hesse with Marilyn Lee providing accompaniment on piano. Irving Berlin music will be featured. Guest artists will be Virginia Paschal on the violin and Willa Avery Thomason on the cello. The ArkAppella chorus, under the direction of Prudence Hagan, will also be on the program. s 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. New and antique quilts will be for show and sale during the 37th Ozark Quilt Fair on the grounds of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in downtown Springdale.
