Dogwood Hills enhancement project complete

Crews recently completed a Bella Vista Village golf course enhancement project that was in the works for more than a year.

A special golf tournament in May 2013 raised more than $3,000 to construct a rock sign on the hill below the Metfield Clubhouse that faces the 18th green on the Dogwood Hills Golf Course. The project, proposed by the Property Owners Association's Golf Joint Advisory Committee, includes plants and landscaping.

The sign and the landscaping further enhance the course's signature hole. The sign is similar to those at the Highlands, Berksdale and Kingswood golf courses, said ZaDean Auyer, who assisted with fundraising efforts.

Golf course flooding in August 2013 put the project on hold, and wet weather during the past few weeks kept crews from working on the hillside.

Crews from Arbor Vision Tree and Landscaping in Bella Vista completed the work, leaving only color plantings to be done in the fall when the weather is cooler. The project included moving two large boulders from near the clubhouse down on the hill to anchor the sign. The metal letters were built by the association's golf crews. Irrigation will be added by the association's Grounds Maintenance Department.
