Scotsdale Drive open for course access

Golfers are still able to access the Scotsdale Golf Course and Golf Shop from Scotsdale Drive during this month's road construction.

The city of Bella Vista began construction July 7, closing Scotsdale Drive between Cullen Hills Drive and Gordon Hollow Drive. The project is expected to take 21 days, weather permitting.

Visitors will need to go around the "road closed to thru traffic" sign. To reach the golf shop, call 479-855-8140.

Bowling league seeks players

A Thursday Morning Mixed Bowling League is being organized for the 2014-15 season.

The group will play at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays at the Rogers Bowling Center starting the week of Sept. 7. Openings are available for men, women or couples.

This handicap league is not sanctioned by the American Bowling Congress. It is designed for recreation, sociability and fun for adults over 50.

Anyone, regardless of skill level, who would like to join should contact Bruce Burgess, league secretary, at 479-855-1593.

Family golf sign-up ends Friday

Enjoy some family fun and friendly competition July 26-27 at Bella Vista Village's "All in the Family" Golf Tournament.

The tournament, which will take place on the Property Owners Association's Kingswood and Berksdale golf courses, is open to property owners and their guests. Teams must consist of at least two relatives; however, husband and wife teams are not allowed. Each player must be 6 or older.

Each day of play will consist of 18 holes of golf -- nine holes of modified scotch twosomes and nine holes of scrambles.

The entry fee is $80 per team, which includes lunch on Sunday and flight and closest-to-the-pin prizes. Green fees and carts are not included.

Green fees are $23 for value card holders, $29 for members with a POA-issued photo identification card, $43 for guests, $13.50 for junior golfers and free for annual golf green-fee card holders. Golf carts are $30 per player. All fees must be prepaid.

The registration and cancellation deadline is Friday, July 18.

Punt Pass and Kick contest slated

The Bentonville Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a NFL Punt Pass and Kick competition Saturday, July 19, at Tiger Field at Bentonville High School. The competition is open to all area boys and girls ages 8 to 15.
