Computer Club

The Bella Vista Computer Club will host a panel of experts at 7 p.m. Monday, July 14, to answer technology questions. This public meeting will be held in the lower-level community room at Highlands Crossing Center in Bella Vista, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd.

Members and nonmembers may register for upcoming classes at the meeting. Classes are free to members. Class descriptions are available at www.bvcompclub.org or by calling 479-273-2558. The club email address is [email protected].

Computer help clinics will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 16 and Aug. 2, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 in the club's classroom on the lower level of Highlands Crossing Center. Attendees should bring their computer tower or laptop for problem solving. Help clinics are a free service for members. Guests may join the club, then have their computer problems resolved.

Embroiderer's Guild of America

The Embroiderer's Guild of America will have its annual salad luncheon at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Powell Senior Center in Springdale. There will also be a short presentation. For more information, call Rose Bray at 417-592-5995.

Beta Sigma Phi

The Laureate Beta Alpha Chapter will gather at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the home of Pat Rose. A salad luncheon will be served before the meeting. Each member is to bring a salad.

Officers for 2014-15 will be installed following the meeting. Officers are: Helen Sammarco, president; Faye Bethea, vice president; Jeanie Swanson, recording secretary; Judi Shannon, treasurer; Roseanna Martin, corresponding secretary.

Ladies Day Out

Join the ladies Tuesday, July 15, as they stay in Bella Vista and go to The ARC, an artists' and nature retreat located at the old Linebarger log cabin on U.S. 71. Participants will be decorating an "initial" wall hanging and must select their initial a week before class. The cost is $20.

The group will eat off the menu at Cafe Amici in the Bella Vista Country Club afterward.

Participants will gather at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot across from Arvest Bank in Town Center.

Lions Club

Melanie Trull, assistant manager at the Highlands branch of Bank of the Ozarks, will be the guest speaker Tuesday, July 15. She will discuss cautions for identity theft and fraud schemes.

The dinner buffet meeting begins at 5:45 p.m. in the main building at Concordia Retirement Center, 1 Concordia Drive, in Bella Vista. All guests are welcome to attend. The optional buffet is $9 per person. Phone Myrna McGee at 479-633-3881 or email her at [email protected] to make reservations.

Granny's Quilts of Love

Granny's Quilts of Love met June 17 at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. In attendance were 20 members and two guests, Kathy Setser and Demi Hewgley.

The total number of quilts made to date is 17,800. The ladies cut 160 quilt kits.

Members learned that Marjorie Crowder, a co-founder of Granny's Quilts of Love, recently passed away.

Donna Beaver talked about plans for the dinner and auction to be held Aug. 23 in the cafeteria at Pea Ridge High School. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and the auction will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The meal includes pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, pickle, chips, homemade dessert and drink. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 per child with children 2 and under eating for free.

The club will raffle off two prizes -- $1,000 cash and a Bosch dishwasher. Tickets may be purchased later this month at Arvest Bank and Community First Bank in Pea Ridge.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Presbyterian church, 1300 N. Davis. Plans for the dinner and auction will be finalized, so it is important for all members to attend.

German-American Club of NWA

Members and friends of the German-American Club of Northwest Arkansas will gather at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13, in the Quarter Shopping Center at 1400 W. Walnut in Rogers. A Summer Festival dance is planned.

The club welcomes German books, LPs and CDs to fill up its library.

Republican Women

The Benton County Republican Women on July 15 will have John Thurston, Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands, as their special guest.

Thurston is the first Republican to be elected land commissioner since the post became elective in 1874. He is currently serving his first term in office after being elected in November 2010. In 2013, he was elected to serve as vice president of the Western States Land Commissioners Association. He is also currently serving as vice chairman of the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council.

Republican Women meet every third Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Golden Corral, 2605 Pleasant Crossing Drive, in Rogers. Many come early to eat before the meeting starts. The club also has a good number of men who attend. For more information, call Donna Hutchinson at 479-876-6011.

Christian Women's Connection

"Freedom is Not Free" is the theme of the Bentonville-Rogers Christian Women's Connection luncheon scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 14, in the Community Building next to First Assembly of God in Bentonville.

The feature is Barb Sturdivan, a veteran, telling of her experiences. Guest speaker Laura Silva will talk about "What I got for free." The colors will be red, white and blue.
