Summer Reading Program
Children from preschool through age 11 are invited to stop by the library to sign up for this annual event. Each child will receive a bookmark and a reading log to record the book titles they read in June and July. Youngsters of all ages and their families are encouraged to attend free weekly events as well.
Sci-fi Book Club
Science-fiction fans are invited to discuss "Goliath Stone" by Larry Niven at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in the library.

Sugar-Free Allstars will make a musical Preschool Story Time event at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 11.

Teen Writing Club
Youth age 12 and older are invited to participate in this program led by local author Debbie DeShields. The next meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12.
Knitting Club
Both experienced and beginning knitters are invited to brush up on their skills and learn some new techniques at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15. Novices will be guided by experienced knitters. Participants may bring their current projects or start a new one. Attendees must bring their own supplies.
Brainteasers
The library hosts this event on the third Wednesday of each month. The next session will be from 3 to 4 p.m. July 16. Brainteasers packets are available at the front desk.
Mystery Book Club
Fans of all types of mystery, crime and suspense novels are invited to join the club, which meets in the library from 6 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. The books of Agatha Christie and Lawrence Block will be the topic July 16.
All About E-books
Patrons are invited to bring their e-readers and join Harris McKee and Myrna McGee as they offer instruction on how to download e-books to mobile devices at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17.
Summer Reading event
Join the Mad Science of NWA guys at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, as they show how fun much science can be.
Color My World
Grade-school children through adults are invited to color their cares away at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Attendees of this free program will use the provided crayons to complete their own Tiffany stained glass picture.
FOL Book Club
The Friends of the Library Book Club meets at 9:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The selection for July 23 is "See You At Harry's" by Jo Knowles.
Summer Reading event
The Mobile Aquarium from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be at the library from 9 a.m. until 5 pm. Wednesday, July 23.
Summer reading
Live: Hampstead Stage! brings its production of "Alice in Wonderland" all the way from New Hampshire to the Bella Vista Library at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26.
Encore Books!
The Friends of the Library's used-book store is open six days a week during regular library hours. The store offers everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children's books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and much more. All proceeds from this ongoing fundraiser support the library.
Check out a Kindle
Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with a specific genre of book -- science fiction, bestseller nonfiction, western, inspirational, etc. -- and may be checked out for three weeks. See library staff members for the checkout agreement and procedure.

This month's exhibits include a "Thoughts About Expansion" display from the Bella Vista Public Library. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Cathy at 479-876-7316.
Floral arrangement
July's arrangement was designed by Pam Page. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patrons' enjoyment.
Preschool Story Time
Volunteer storytellers visit the Bella Vista Library at 9:30 a.m. every Friday. Readers are needed. Anyone interested in volunteering should call 479-855-1753.

Support the troops
The library has teamed up with The Weekly Vista to send care packages to U.S. military troops serving overseas. Pick up a brochure listing the needed supplies, then drop off donations inside the library.
