Golf gifts available

The Property Owners Association is offering golf gift certificates in two easy and convenient methods.

Golf passes for green fees and cart rentals at any Bella Vista Village golf course and gift certificates for merchandise at any village golf shop can be purchased on the association's website -- www.bellavistapoa.com/golf/giftcertsXmas/index.asp -- and at the Golf Division office, located in the Bella Vista Country Club building, 98 Clubhouse Drive.

Online shoppers must clearly indicate whether the gift certificate is for merchandise or green fees and/or cart rentals. The comment line can be used for writing a greeting, such as "Merry Christmas!"

Golf gift certificates and golf passes will be available online through Dec. 15.

Meanwhile, certificates and golf passes for any amount can be purchased at the Golf Division office until Dec. 23.

Golf Shops offer appreciation sale

Bella Vista Village's golf shops and Get-A-Grip are sponsoring a member appreciation sale through Dec. 24.

All regular merchandise will be discounted 20 percent for members and 10 percent for guests, the Property Owners Association announced in a news release. Shoppers will then have the opportunity to draw for an extra savings of up to 13 percent on all items.

In addition, the golf shops will offer golf ball sales through the holidays. Customers should check with the golf shops for details. All discounts will be from the suggested retail price, and no additional discounts apply.

All men's and women's baseball caps with a suggested retail price of $20 or more will be reduced to $15, according to the release. All baseball caps with a suggested retail price of $19 or less will be reduced to $10. No other discounts apply.

Putters will be 30 percent off the retail price, and sale putters will be reduced an additional 10 percent off of the sales prices. All putters must be in stock and no additional discounts apply.

Free gift wrapping will be available from 1 to 4 p.m. through Dec. 23 on all items purchased from the Kingsdale and Country Club golf shops. Gift wrapping also will be available Dec. 24 during limited shop hours.

Village implements new golf course procedure

A new procedure to protect the Property Owners Association's golf course turf from temperature-related damage and to provide consistency across all village courses is immediately in effect.

When The Weather Channel forecast for ZIP code 72714 is a high of 35 degrees or less for the entire day, courses will close for that day. If it is forecasted to be above 35 degrees, the golf course superintendent will decide if the course is closed or delayed in opening.

When courses are closed for weather-related issues, information will be posted by 8 a.m. on the "Today's Golf" page on the association's website, http://bellavistapoa.com/golf/todaysgolf.asp.

For member convenience, this procedure does not apply to the Kingsdale Golf Shop and Tanyard Creek Practice Center, according to a POA news release. There are situations other than temperature that may dictate course delays or closures. Call the golf shop for the most up-to-date information.

POA releases schedule for carts on path

Beginning in December, golf carts will be required to stay on paths at various times on each of Bella Vista Village's 18-hole golf courses.

The Property Owners Association Board of Directors recently voted to halt overseeding on all golf courses. By keeping traffic off the non-overseeded fairways, the chances of quicker recovery each spring greatly increase, according to a POA news release.

The schedule for carts on path is:

• Dec. 1-14 at Dogwood Hills and Kingswood golf courses;

• Dec. 15-28 at Berksdale and Scotsdale golf courses;

• Dec. 29 to Jan.11 at Highlands and Bella Vista Country Club golf courses;

• Jan. 12-25 at Dogwood Hills and Kingswood;

• Jan. 26 to Feb. 8 at Berksdale and Scotsdale;

• Feb. 9-22 at Highlands and Country Club;

• Feb. 23 to March 8 at Dogwood Hills and Kingswood;

• March 9-22 at Berksdale and Scotsdale;

• March 23 to April 5 at Highlands and Country Club;

• April 6-12 at Dogwood Hills and Kingswood;

• April 13-19 at Berksdale and Scotsdale;

• April 20-26 at Highlands and Country Club.

Eagle watch tours continue

ROGERS -- Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area will offer eagle watch tours on Beaver Lake through February.

December tours will take place Dec. 13, 14, 20, 21, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30.

"We have always seen eagles on our tours -- some mature, some immature -- and we always see other beautiful wildlife as well. It could be migrating osprey, great blue herons, kingfishers, deer or red-tailed hawks. No one will ever be disappointed on our eagle tours," Rebekah Penny, park interpreter, said.

"We can only take 20 guests at a time, so it's important that folks call the park in a timely manner to ensure that their names get on the boarding lists," she added.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. The price is $10 plus tax for adults and $5 plus tax for children ages 6-12.

Tours depart Rocky Branch Marina at 3 p.m.
